And what about if you\u2019re hoping to make a new connection? That\u2019s right\u2014you head to the app store.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Why do people use dating apps? Because it means there\u2019s no need to waste time speed dating, strike up awkward conversations with strangers, or risk having to work alongside a classmate or colleague who you broke it off with. You can scroll through hundreds of profiles and pick out precisely those who catch your eye.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">But is dating in 2024 as easy as it seems? EduBirdie surveyed 2000 Gen Zers on their use of dating apps and whether swiping right leads to lasting romance.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"How_to_find_a_date_in_the_digital_age_Gen_Zs_go-to_strategies\"><\/span>How to find a date in the digital age: Gen Z\u2019s go-to strategies<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 100%;\" src=\"https:\/\/s3.amazonaws.com\/blog.site\/files\/image%20(12)_1732797304.png\" alt=\"Gen Z finding love on dating apps\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">They say romance occurs when you least expect it, so instead of stressing over how to find love, just be yourself and see what happens. That\u2019s what the majority of Gen Zers think, at least. Some <strong>55%<\/strong> admit that when using dating apps, they prefer to just go with the flow.<br \/>\nHowever, for 11% of young people, finding that special someone requires a game plan. They can\u2019t just sit back and let Cupid do all the work\u2014they need to finetune every element of their dating profile, put in the hours swiping, and meticulously craft every opening message.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">But if you\u2019re a strategizer, what should you look for in a dating app profile?<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cI mostly swipe on people in a certain age range who look like they\u2019ve accomplished something in life,\u201d one user said, while others admit that finding your person among the online dating crowd is a numbers game.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8220;I swipe on almost everyone and see if I get any responses,\u201d another admitted.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0When you find someone that ticks all your boxes? \u201cJust be yourself,\u201d one user stresses.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">But when it comes to finding love in the digital age, young people don\u2019t just have to pick between dates but also between apps: \u201cI look for dating apps with positive ratings, a good user experience, and strict privacy rules,\u201d an Edubirdie user explained.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Scrolling_for_a_soulmate_Are_Gen_Zers_finding_love_on_dating_apps\"><\/span>Scrolling for a soulmate: Are Gen Zers finding love on dating apps?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" style=\"width: width: 100%;\" src=\"https:\/\/s3.amazonaws.com\/blog.site\/files\/2_1731069033.png\" alt=\"Gen Z finding suitable matches on dating apps\" width=\"760\" height=\"380\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">You spend hours swiping and planning the perfect icebreaker, and then nothing\u2026 Not a match or a message, let alone a date. Some <strong>61%<\/strong> of Gen Zers admit they struggle to find decent matches on apps, with <strong>5%<\/strong> having never found somebody that fits their dating criteria.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">It\u2019s not because there aren\u2019t enough fish in the sea. How many people use dating apps? Hundreds of millions around the world. And where do most people meet their spouse? You can surely guess the answer\u2026 so are dating apps dead? Absolutely not.\u00a0The good news is that having a strategy works. 59% of people with a plan often find meaningful connections on dating apps, compared to 31% of those without a strategy.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-7561\" src=\"https:\/\/edubirdie.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/new.png\" alt=\"Unclear intentions are the biggest dealbreaker\" width=\"760\" height=\"506\" srcset=\"https:\/\/edubirdie.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/new.png 760w, https:\/\/edubirdie.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/new-300x200.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 760px) 100vw, 760px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>When it comes to online dating, random trauma dumping early on is the biggest dealbreaker.<strong> 65%<\/strong> can\u2019t handle it. <strong>62%<\/strong> will ghost someone sending sexual messages without consent. <strong>54%<\/strong> can\u2019t handle someone taking hours or days to reply with no explanation.<\/p>\n<p>Other chat quirks include <em>\u201ctherapy-speak flirting\u201d<\/em> (<strong>47%<\/strong>), casual bragging about routines (<strong>40%<\/strong>), bad grammar or spelling (<strong>32%<\/strong>), and overusing emojis or slang (<strong>26%<\/strong>).<\/p>\n<p>If you find yourself constantly questioning<em> \u201cWill I find love on dating apps or am I wasting my time?\u201d<\/em>, it depends. In the end, dating apps are a mixed bag for Gen Z.
