Is someone trying to push that invisible labor onto you? If it\u2019s not your actual job, pass it right back with \u201cI think we should rotate this\u201d or \u201cI\u2019d love to contribute fully to the discussion\u2014maybe we can take turns?\u201d. You can also try advertising a man for the task: \u201cI think Matt, with his eye for detail, will be perfect for this role!\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Conversely, if there\u2019s a big project or leadership opportunity, get the women in the room a seat at the table. You can always say, \u201cThis sounds like something Priya would be great for\u2014has anyone asked her?\u201d.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Stop hepeating in its tracks<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>If a female coworker drops a solid idea in a meeting, make sure her name stays attached to it. \u201cHepeating\u201d (a man repeating what a woman just said and getting all the credit) is so 2009!<\/p>\n<p>Say, Sarah has suggested a strategy, and someone later tries to pass it off as their own. Casually but firmly remind everyone whose idea it was: \u201cThat\u2019s exactly what Sarah was saying earlier\u2014love that we\u2019re all on the same page!\u201d.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Sabotage the \u201cmanterrupting\u201d cycle<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>You know that thing where women get interrupted 3x more than men? Shut it down. When a woman gets cut off, jump in: \u201cHold on, I really want to hear what Marissa was saying.\u201d And if it happens again? A lighthearted \u201cOops, let\u2019s let her finish this time!\u201d usually works. For a more experienced player, a plain \u201cI haven\u2019t finished talking\u201d will do. Just with deadpan sexist jokes, this one takes a little bit of practice.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Break the \u201cgirlboss\u201d stereotype<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Nice girls don\u2019t get the corner office\u2014for a long time, this has been everyone\u2019s take on workplace feminism. However, it\u2019s worth remembering that women shouldn\u2019t be pushed to be twice as ruthless just to be taken seriously.<\/p>\n<p>So let\u2019s stop glorifying burnout and start championing work-life balance as a flex, not a flaw. Example? If a female colleague feels guilty for logging off at 5 PM, back her up: \u201cYou finished everything, right? Then you\u2019re good!
