They\u2019re fighting for environmental change and are firm defenders of the LGBTQ+ community, but where do they stand on gender equality and women\u2019s rights? Balancing activism, work, and studies can be\u00a0challenging, so some students opt to <a href=\"https:\/\/edubirdie.com\/do-my-assignment\">pay for assignment<\/a> support to manage their academic workload while remaining\u00a0engaged in social issues.<\/p>\n<p>EduBirdie surveyed 2000 Gen Zers, aged 21-28, to get their perspective on gender equality in the workplace and wider society\u2014and how those views differ between men and women. The result shows a generation divided on how rife the problem is yet united in their determination to create a fair and inclusive society for all.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Gen_Z_and_feminism_How_gender_equality_divides_the_inclusive_generation\"><\/span>Gen Z and feminism: How gender equality divides the inclusive generation<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 100%;\" src=\"https:\/\/s3.amazonaws.com\/blog.site\/files\/1_1741698040.png\" alt=\"Gen Z and feminism\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Gen Z presents a united front when tackling the world\u2019s most pressing issues. But when it comes to feminism, a clear divide exists. While 83% of Gen Z women consider themselves at least somewhat of a feminist, just 59% of Gen Z men would label themselves as such.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 100%;\" src=\"https:\/\/s3.amazonaws.com\/blog.site\/files\/2_1741698041.png\" alt=\"Gen Z men's attitudes toward gender equality\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Does that suggest young men aren\u2019t supportive of their female counterparts? Not necessarily. Rather, 36% simply believe that the fight for gender equality has already been won. However, those who know best\u2014women\u2014aren\u2019t so convinced, with just 22% sharing the view that the world treats men and women as equals.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Women_wages_and_worth_How_Gen_Z_views_women_in_the_workforce\"><\/span>Women, wages, and worth: How Gen Z views women in the workforce<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 100%;\" src=\"https:\/\/s3.amazonaws.com\/blog.site\/files\/3_1741698041.png\" alt=\"Gen Z on gender pay gap\" \/><\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s undeniable: for every $1 men take home, women in the same profession earn just\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/iwpr.org\/new-report-women-earn-less-than-men-in-all-occupations-even-ones-commonly-held-by-women\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">$0.84<\/a>. Yet, 33% of Gen Z men and 21% of Gen Z women insist that the gender pay gap is nothing more than a myth.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 100%;\" src=\"https:\/\/s3.amazonaws.com\/blog.site\/files\/4_1741698042.png\" alt=\"Gen Z views on women\u2019s earnings\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Women aren\u2019t paid their fair share, but according to 44% of Gen Z men and 29% of Gen Z women, there\u2019s a good reason: men are better workers.<\/p>\n<p>While 6% of men and 4% of women insist that females are inherently less capable, 38% and 25% hold the marginally less misogynistic view that men only excel in particular fields. Yet, the millions of strong and successful women thriving in construction, tech, and other male-dominated industries beg to differ.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 100%;\" src=\"https:\/\/s3.amazonaws.com\/blog.site\/files\/5_1741698042.png\" alt=\"Gen Z on women's leadership capability\" \/><\/p>\n<p>There\u2019s one thing Gen Z seems to agree on: women have a place in the boardroom. Some 93% of women and 89% of men insist that females are just as capable of being great leaders.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 100%;\" src=\"https:\/\/s3.amazonaws.com\/blog.site\/files\/6_1741698042.png\" alt=\"Gen Z's attitude toward female presidential candidates\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Yet, actions speak louder than words, and the polls paint a revealing picture of how Gen Z <em>really<\/em> feels. While gender isn\u2019t a factor for most voters, 9% of women and 17% of men say they wouldn\u2019t vote for a female presidential candidate\u2014regardless of their policies, character, or experience.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Gender_equality_in_the_workplace_Are_women_treated_as_equals\"><\/span>Gender equality in the workplace: Are women treated as equals?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 100%;\" src=\"https:\/\/s3.amazonaws.com\/blog.site\/files\/12_1741698058.png\" alt=\"Gender equality in the workplace\" \/><\/p>\n<p>While 41% of Gen Z men think using gender-neutral language at work is unnecessary, 71% of Gen Z women at least try to make an effort\u2014working hard to ensure everyone feels heard, respected, and included.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 100%;\" src=\"https:\/\/s3.amazonaws.com\/blog.site\/files\/7_1741698043.png\" alt=\"Workplace discrimination statistics\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Their reward? Discrimination.<\/p>\n<p>Despite their efforts to create an inclusive workplace, women\u2019s hard work goes unrewarded\u201447% deal with sexist remarks, 44% face inappropriate behavior, and 22% earn less than their male colleagues. Despite still being in the early stages of their careers, 61% of Gen Z women have had to deal with workplace discrimination, compared to 48% of men.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 100%;\" src=\"https:\/\/s3.amazonaws.com\/blog.site\/files\/8_1741698044.png\" alt=\"Workplace behavior: men vs. women\" \/><\/p>\n<p>\u201cLighten up, it\u2019s just a joke\u201d\u2014words that every woman knows all too well. Fearing potential backlash, 55% of Gen Z women have been pressured to let workplace discrimination slide.<\/p>\n<h3>The work-life dilemma: Do women have it worse in the workplace?<\/h3>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 100%;\" src=\"https:\/\/s3.amazonaws.com\/blog.site\/files\/9_1741698044.png\" alt=\"Gen Z on being questioned about parenting plans\" \/><\/p>\n<p>At work, there\u2019s one area where Gen Z men and women in the workplace receive near-equal treatment: both face unwelcomed questions about their personal lives. Some 15% of women and 13% of men have found themselves under the microscope during job interviews, facing questions on their future parenting plans, proving some biases don\u2019t discriminate by gender.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 100%;\" src=\"https:\/\/s3.amazonaws.com\/blog.site\/files\/10_1741698045.png\" alt=\"Gen Z on balancing career and family\" \/><\/p>\n<p>For years, doubts over whether women can juggle their work and personal responsibilities have held back their career growth and earning potential, fueling gender inequality in organizations.\u00a0 Even today, 36% of Gen Z women feel judged for balancing both. However, this struggle is no longer theirs alone\u201430% of Gen Z men also say they\u2019ve faced the same scrutiny.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 100%;\" src=\"https:\/\/s3.amazonaws.com\/blog.site\/files\/11_1741698057.png\" alt=\"Gen Z on quitting jobs to support a high-earning partner\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Employers may doubt women\u2019s career commitment, but their partners are far more supportive. Some 72% of Gen Z men insist they\u2019re willing to quit their jobs to support a high-earning partner. However, with women having worked hard to earn respect in the workplace, only 65% of Gen Z women would be willing to do the same.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Achieving_workplace_gender_equality_Creating_a_workplace_that_works_for_women\"><\/span>Achieving workplace gender equality: Creating a workplace that works for women<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 100%;\" src=\"https:\/\/s3.amazonaws.com\/blog.site\/files\/13_1741698059.png\" alt=\"Gen Z views on menstrual leave\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Aware of the impact periods can have on performance and productivity, 78% of Gen Z men and women believe employers should offer menstrual leave, reflecting the generational desire for workplace policies that support women and prioritize wellbeing.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 100%;\" src=\"https:\/\/s3.amazonaws.com\/blog.site\/files\/14_1741698060.png\" alt=\"Gen Z views on anti-harassment policies\" \/><\/p>\n<p>However, at the top of Gen Z\u2019s to-do list is tackling harassment, with 66% of women and 57% of men calling for stronger policies to deter harmful behavior.<\/p>\n<p>Flexible working policies (demanded by 65% of women and 52% of men) are another key concern. Likewise, 64% of women and 49% of men demand equal parental leave\u2014policy changes that would make it far easier for women to balance their work and personal responsibilities.<\/p>\n<p>With women making up almost 40% of the global workforce, the benefits of gender equality in the workplace\u2014a happier workforce that feels truly valued\u2014are good for us all. Businesses, economies, and society depend on their talent and commitment.
