I’m Miguel, I was born February 28, 2000, in Huntsville Alabama, one day before leap year February 29th. I was named after my grandad his name is Michael, my name is ‘Miguel’ which is Spanish for Michael. I am the youngest of four, I have two big sisters. I also have a brother. My sister also has a niece making me an uncle.
I went to Columbia High School in Huntsville Alabama, where I played basketball all 4 years. I even made All-State and signed to Bevill. I like the school and I think the teachers are pretty nice even though at times it can be hard. I love the challenge and I’m taking it on head on.
In Huntsville the city life is pretty bad as many people know, and just because of the culture there the most violent music is the most common. Hip hop is what the majority of the people in Huntsville listen to, rappers such as NBA YoungBoy (which is the cities favorite). I also love hip hop and violent music but I also love everything else from pop, rock, even alternative rock. I love to listen to certain music when I'm in certain moods.
So, in hip hop if I'm in a good mood I’ll listen to Lil Baby or Gunna or any happy stress-free type of music that has that type of vibe. If I’m sad or going through heartbreak I’ll listen to Juice Wrld. I love to listen to music before my basketball games to help me focus. Most people enjoy hype music before a basketball game to get them energized. But I don't like to be overly excited or hype for a game. I like to be more mellow and have chill vibe to myself, so I can be calm during the game. Every person has a different preference in their choice of music to listen to, which may change over time or based on mood. There’s music for any person to enjoy from hard to light. I listen to different music genres, depending on my mood or what time of the day. If I am warming up for a game then I choose rock or hip pop music. If I am trying to relax then I choose slower alternative rock music. I feel as if music is something that every culture enjoys just in different forms.
The genre hip hop due to the beats and making of them that are unique compared to even some forms of electronic music and the way it has poetry set to a beat.
Music can bring so many families and people together as you sit at a 4th of July picnic you can smell the food as the music makes nod your head to beat while you aunts, uncles, sisters, brothers, cousin and all nod with you. It's just an out of body experience to have around family through music. Music makes me feel attuned with my surroundings because the fact that whatever I listen usually is a subject to my surroundings. If I’m with my grandmother in Prichard AL we listen to some old soul type of music. So, when I'm not with her and I her that music I think of all the food and thing I smelled and saw there. Music can bring back those memories with sound. Such as when you listen to a song and something significant in your life happens you can picture that event vividly when that song comes on.
Even babies love music even though they know very little. It's scientifically known that baby even enjoy music in the wound. So, from the earliest time in your life you are already inclined to enjoy music and a lot about it. Some babies even can be on rhythm at an early age which takes some people years like myself.
Music is a huge part of my life I don't go anywhere without music from waking up to my alarm to driving my car to school. I always listen to music I even listen to music while I’m just lodging around. So, music is everywhere in my everyday life, so it is no way it can't be big, when I enjoy it so much I love to hear the different beats and production in the background. Music is everywhere.
