In the era of globalization, where there are no more limits to accessing anything, it provides an opportunity for the Internet to become a 'primary need' for humans. The Internet has become the most crucial thing in this era of Industrial Revolution 4.0, because technology is used as a reference in various aspects of life. Technological developments occur so rapidly, this technological development occurs because of the human need for technology to meet their life needs in order to live better, this refers to practicality. There are two components of technology that cannot be separated, namely communication technology and information technology. According to the 2017 Google Consumer Barometer annual survey, 86% of Indonesians access the Internet via smartphones, this indicates that the Internet is inherent in human life through smartphones, a device that has been used by humans before the Internet. From these data it can be concluded that it is possible that every human who has a smartphone must have accessed the Internet.
At present, the world is entering the 'online' phase, all kinds of routines that almost always intersect with the Internet, such as listening to songs through streaming song services such as Spotify, or watching entertainment videos via YouTube, using food delivery services such as GoFood, correspondence to work issues via e-mail, reading news through online portals, greeting friends through social media, utilizing online transportation services such as grabs or motorbikes, until booking tickets can be done online. This shows the high human dependence on the Internet. Dependence cannot always be negative, as long as you can use it properly and in its place. The proof is besides the negative impact that arises due to dependence on the Internet, positive things, such as effectiveness and convenience of all aspects of life, also need to be taken into account. The Internet can facilitate humans in all matters, even the right utilization can often lead people to progress, for example, such as the use of the Internet in this Industrial Revolution 4.0. But of course, there are negative impacts of the Internet, such as a decrease in the level of sensitivity to the surrounding environment or a lack of socialization in the 'real world' because it is busy interacting in the 'virtual world'.
In conclusion, humans basically depend on things that can facilitate life, this has been true since prehistoric times, where humans depend on technology such as stone tools to hunt for survival, besides that attitude of dependence, humans continue to develop towards technology as time goes on, this adjustment needs to be done so that humans can continue to survive.
