Religion was invented to express ideas about the world, why unexplainable things happen and what come after death. Others believed it was a way of explaining social behavior amongst human-beings. Regardless if you are religious or not, you cannot deny the impact religion has had on our world with the vast majority of the world practicing some type of religion. In Egypt, the Muslim religion makes up 90% of the population leaving the rest of the 10% of Christians to make up the rest. The biggest group of Christians in Egypt are referred to Coptic Christians, also known as Copts, who reside mainly in the Northeast part of Africa. Coptic Christians represent Egypt’s largest and most important number population and the largest population of Christians in the Midst East.

It is the Eastern Orthodox practice, and most Copts take the Egyptian Orthodox religion of Alexandria. Historically, the Egyptian Church has origins in Egypt originating in the earliest times of religion; Christian religious sites indicate the position where mother, Joseph, and Christ are thought to have remained within their trip to Egypt and are proximal to centuries-old Christian churches. Faith allowed the people of Ancient empire to remain quite equal and females were respected, unlike Modern empire, at which is a little different by discriminating females. but different than that, religion still holds a high priority. Before that, Egypt has a rural background and it was not immediately abandoned after the invasion. But it wasn’t until 1971 when Islam was stated to be the set religion of the state and though the constitution says religious freedom is a human right the government thinks otherwise. The government sees any other religion that is practiced as “insulting heavenly religions” even though some of those religion may not be breaking this rule. This goes for Muslims and Christians. In today’s age in Egypt, most of the people pray five times a day, including every morning, and every business except emergency services shuts down on Friday’s (Islams’s holy day). Lately, there have been numerous issues amongst the Christians in Egypt and the Muslims. There is the constant battle between the two to improve their identity in Egypt, both these factions pursue the regime to help them.

Although Egypt’s Christian population is overwhelmingly Orthodox, different Christian denominations and movements have a substantial existence in this nation. For instance, there exist one estimated 140,000 African Catholics and more than 250,000 African protestants. Evangelical and charismatic movements have influenced Christianity in empire, resulting, for instance, to the establishment of the Egyptian Evangelical organization for Social assistance, established by Protestantism layman Samuel Habib in 1950 to promote community development.
