Having been born into a family of chartered accountants, technologists, and medical professionals my dream of fashion has often led to a good deal of speculation. Surviving in a traditional Indian social club had its set of limitations. Questions like Will you get a job? Will you make enough? Will you be capable to pay your electricity bill? Will you end up homeless? Were thrown my way. Fortunately, my parents were supportive of my dreams since I first mentioned them to them in middle school. They have constantly wanted me to be creative and ambitious in whatever I serve. I did not have the same confidence they had in me. Perhaps I was afraid that I wouldn't be as successful as my parents whom I've looked upward to my entire animation. Through high school, I experienced times when I was scared to share my dreams of being a fashion designer fearing that I didn’t deliver what it needs to be successful. Yet somehow my desire to create could overcome this fear. I want to create things, design, and produce something that has never existed. Something fresh, something creative and innovative that will positively impress the world. I know being in a creative subject is really scary, stressful, and competitive, but I know I will not stop creating because it drives me. This confidence that I have in me is not something I was born with but rather something I carved into myself with a great deal of thought and work and I trust in myself to strive hard to accomplish my goals.
Being initially scared, I never liked to throw myself out there and join competitions, even though I was found good at art, and creativity and was opened to a great heap of opportunities. After finally understanding myself and knowing what I want, I gained the confidence to step out and take part in various activities that helped me build up my skills and increased exposure which made me want more and understand how much I missed, fearing to tell the world what I am and what I want to be.
I believe FIT is a position that would serve an individual to grow, construct and sustain new and surviving skills and would assist me to accomplish my dreams and provide me the taste of everything I have left out, letting me grow and opening new doors that would fulfill my aspirations
Choosing fashion design as my major is not an impulsive decision but rather well conceived. Understanding and developing fashion has been something that I found joy in sacrificing my time. It is a medium through which I could express myself. Creating style and designing garments give me the impression that I’m adding something of myself to the world.
I desire to produce garments that would grant people the confidence to conquer their worlds. A cape, which would grant them durability and feel powerful in their best selves. My mania for creating and the things that I have missed, made me want to work harder toward what I require. Throughout the time I have spent living in India, I have determined to be self-governing, which I see as a salient characteristic in people. I can abide up for myself and what I believe in, without failing to understand and take on things that would help me increase my knowledge, accomplishments, and increment in my career and as an individual. I’m not afraid to fail, but rather looking forward to learning something fresh every day. There might be a lot of sacrifices and difficult work that induces to be put in but I can handle the pressure it holds. I know what I want and what it needs to start out thither. I want to explore more and let out many things about what I’m passionate about and FIT is the best passage through which I can reach from what I am to what I want to be. The atonement that you receive when the garment you created builds the confidence of a person, and makes all the hard work, sweat, and sacrifice pay off. I can step out of my comfort zone and apply my creativity and innovation in me to make an impact on the world. To design pieces that facilitate an individual to best portray themselves through their clothing and spread my views on the difference between clothes and fashion itself.
