I was in my Orange Avalanche, on my way home from school and I was feeling a bit tired, so I ended up falling asleep at the car door. Before I go any further you should know I was a little of a rebellious kid and I never wanted to wear my seatbelt. I was leaning on the door when I ended up falling asleep without my seatbelt on. We get home and since I was sleeping my parents went to open the door to take me into the house. Little did they know I was not wearing my seatbelt. My parents open the door and I end up falling about 3 feet to my face. At this point, I am covered with open wounds with rocks in them. I am coming in and out of consciousness. I feel the water being poured over my face to get the rocks and dirt out of the wounds. I knock out after that and woke up in an unknown bed, I was in the hospital. Once I gain consciousness I look around and see medical utensils. I see a big bag of blood next to me. “Is that mine?”. My face is covered with stitches. Parts of my mouth were stitched, beneath my eyes, basically my entire face. I am stitched all over so much that I needed plastic surgery so that I wouldn’t be riddled with scars for the rest of my life.
This event will always be with me and every time I look in the mirror I will be reminded of this tragic event. I’ve learned a really important lesson from it though, always wear your seatbelt, especially when sleeping in the car. Even though this accident happened when I was little, I still look back on it and wonder if my life would be different if I had just put my seatbelt on. This event will always affect me but it has shaped me into the person I am today. Without this event, I would not be the same person I am and my personality would probably be different. I know that everything happens for a reason and my getting injured happened for a reason. Who knows? Maybe if I talk about this event to people more it will introduce me to new experiences and get me into my forever carrier.
