I am currently a Management senior-year student at the Academy of Public Administration. First, I would like to express my desire to be a specialist in the field of Management. Therefore, I am applying for Willy Brandt School of Public Policy, to continue my studies for a Master of Science in Public and Nonprofit Management.
After reading up on the content of the master’s program, I felt sure again that, it would have a strong impact in enriching and developing my academic skills. This program offers a variety of general management and leadership skills and also teaches how to implement these skills in the management of nonprofit and governmental programs. This would give me a great opportunity to acquire complete knowledge for building up my professional background.
My main goal is to contribute to the social progress of our community, by taking a position in governmental organizations, and I really believe that the European model that has long viewed historical experience in economy, globalization, and democracy will be a guide for me to pursue my goals. Noticing economically developed states within the European continent, I am highly motivated to learn and apply this model in my home country. . My future plans are not about getting my own benefit from society, I really would like to serve people. Nonprofit organizations rely on public relations that go beyond soliciting direct financial support. As a public manager, you would also be expected to maximize your resources and ensure that programs under your direction integrate into an increasingly global world.
My country is relatively young, as it got independence in 1991. Azerbaijan still faces problems after the dissolution of the Soviet Union and lacks experience in Public Management. Thus, I would like to direct my gained knowledge and experience to tackle these problems and research alternative ways how to increase the welfare of society through both immediate and long-term actions. Starting with my home country, I am curious to develop the prosperity of societies by establishing cooperation among different communities. My purpose is to serve the citizens of Azerbaijan through research and public education on the most important public policy issues. Thereby, by bringing these values to my country, I would dedicate myself to working constructively on the development of more effective economic management. I also accept the fact that being your alumni would open more doors and create much more useful career opportunities for me, where I would realize my potential in a more effective way. I will seek out innovative, practical solutions to critical public policy issues, endeavor to help shape the direction of government policies and strive to bring best practices of international experience.
As a part of my curriculum, I have been taught Public Administration for one term. During classes, our teacher gave an assignment to our group. Our main task was to make a comparative analysis of Traditional Public Administration and New Public Management. We conducted research on the similarities and differences at the national level and their impacts. I found that Its application reduces costs, accelerates the rendering of services, and improves the ability of the system to respond to changing requirements.
Throughout my bachelor studies, I kept learning subjects relating to my major, and I have worked as a Management team member at SUES-Social Organization for Student Assistance. Additionally, I worked as a Product Development Manager at Golden Bay Company. Not only did I gain precious theoretical and practical knowledge in my field of study, yet I believe I have also leveled up quite substantially in my personal experiences. Furthermore, as the vice president of the Book Club of the Academy Youth Organization, I have taken the initiative to organize numerous meetings, events, and activities, such as the “Young Writers Competition”, which highly contributed to my leadership skills. Last but not least, I always participated in conferences, seminars, and forums related to my major such as the “CIS: Insight into future” economic forum which was held in Baku, Azerbaijan. Later, I was involved in graduate research which is called “Evolution of Management thinking”. Together with my adviser, I spent numerous hours studying papers, experimenting with new ideas, and evaluating results. These days had given me an insight into the methodology of conducting research.
Participating and contributing to the master's in Germany would be an honor for me and a great opportunity to get acquainted with the world’s renowned scientists and researchers. Ancient times have been the home of many famous scientists such as Lorenz von Stein who was a well-known economist, sociologist, and public administration scholar from Eckernförde. As an advisor to Meiji period Japan, his liberal political views influenced the wording of the Constitution of the Empire of Japan. I would like to point out that I am highly motivated and eager to pursue my education in Germany so that I can broaden my knowledge and experience in the Management field. I believe that being awarded the Haniel scholarship will contribute to my professional development as a young expert on a global level. As a successful bachelor's student of the Academy of Public Administration with a high overall GPA(95,62) in my major, I would like to study at your reliable university in order to face new challenges, improve myself personally and engage in academic improvement and to be one of the honorable students of your university. I am confident that, with my previous and further academic achievements, I will be able to fulfill your expectations.
