A dream doesn’t become reality through magic; it takes sweat, determination, and hard work. I was born in Honduras on a rainy November night. The wind was heavy as if it was warning the people around the hospital that something was wrong or something was out of place. Due to personal problems, my dad left my mom but my mom didn’t get sad or depressed. She just stands in from all of those problems and fights them and from that moment my mom decides to take care of me by herself and this is why she decided to move to the U.S to try to give me a better life. She brought me to the U.S to achieve my personal goals and that is like my mom never giving up on anything and trying to face all my problems with my chin raised.
When I got to the U.S. everything was different compared to my original country in Honduras, the way the people look and treat each other and also the way that I was classified was new to me. They classified me as a Hispanic/Latino something that in my original country did not exist and now without even realizing I was part of it, and my strong accent makes it easy for people to categorize me but I didn’t feel sad or anything because in the end, I realize that it doesn’t matter how others see me, in the end, I am that never going to change where I come from and where I am going. Something that was different was the language, I was scared since I felt as if I never gonna be able to communicate in the same way as others, but I push through that obstacles and I overcome them with some help from my friend and especially my mom who always was there for me and because of her support and her constant help that push me to do better even though I don’t understand much but that help me do better. But my accent stays beside me as a constant reminder of where I came from.
One obstacle that I overcome in my life was learning English. So it was hard but not impossible the situation in my country didn’t change that much. A lot of violence is still happening there, and one or two of the friends that I met in my original country had died due to the violence. That makes me think, what if I have chosen to stay there instead of coming here; I may be dead or skipping classes as I use to do there, and not caring about my life like my other friends. So that decision that I take when I was 13 changed my entire life. But challenges In life never gonna disappear that’s why you have to keep trying to succeed In everything you do Even though you know you will fail because when you try and fail you still win a fail and that is better than not even trying and not win anything. I think that part of my personality has helped me the most overcome the challenge. For example on 9th grade, there was this group that they usually call themselves “Team Science” In order to get in the club you have to do a super hard science question It took me 2 months and 22 different tries. The teacher changes the question three times because three different kids get the question earlier than me so he has to put another one. That always makes me feel like it does not matter how hard I try somebody else always gonna get it first then me but I never quit trying because I knew that I was getting experience by doing all those questions and that I was getting closer, and closer until one day I finally get all of the rights.
I was so happy then I almost cry finally my hard work has given me a result and it was awesome. That teaches me that if you don’t try you will never get a result and that is why you have to keep trying over and over again by not giving it up. In conclusion, my Strength has always helped me reach my goals by teaching me the life lesson that I will never forget and giving me the tools to succeed in this crazy world.
I was really excited when I realize that I finally get the question right it was a turning point in my life to finally win something to prove to all those people who laugh at me because I was trying so hard. But in the end, The most important thing was that I prove to myself that I was capable of change and I was capable of doing anything that I propose to myself as long as I try with all my heart.
