The English Language has been called an international language because of colonization and trade (Clyne & Sharifian, 2008). Nowadays, due to the increase of the popularity in the English language, many students from another country who not uses English as their first language interest to English. Not only that, not a few of them prefers to go to countries that use English only to learn the language. They claimed this language could provide many benefits because it has been mostly used as a communication language in business, science, technology and governmental. Besides, with English proficiency, those who are looking for work can find it easier to get a job. This phenomenon occurs in many countries that do not speak English such as Asia, Africa, and some countries in Europe. However, problems may arise due to the process of English Language learning and teaching. This essay will discuss the problems which may occur from the effect of the increasing popularity of English Language in education, such as discrimination and difficulties to adopt new education techniques. Furthermore, this essay will give the solution and evaluation of each problem.
First, one problem that can occur with the popularity of English Language in education is discrimination (Kirova & Veselinovska, 2015). Although discrimination is a common problem in our society, it has been aggravated with the popularity of English. This situation can happen while many students try to adapt to the new language and culture. Along with it, scholars not infrequently get harsh treatment and bullying because they are considered different from others. For this problem, one solution to this problem is the existence of cooperation between the government, which in this case immigration and universities by educating each international student who is studying in their country (Clyne & Sharifian, 2008). For example, by giving session classes in the university where the student can have a consultation regarding various problems and obstacles they face with their new environment. Also, immigration and universities must provide guideline information through their website that every prospective student who wants to study can access easily. However, this solution will also take a longer time to get the result but can last longer if every student can afford it. Although the problem can occur, but this education system can solve it.

Second, another problem is difficulties to adopt new education technique. Every country has different skill and technology systems (Shankar, 2015). Though English has been spread and develop for many decades, not all countries in the world can access it. English has been changed many times since then. This situation has resulted in the different educational technique in every country. Some country might have an updated English version and some country might not. English also consists of several types. Not only that, but their first language also has a different structure with English that sometimes makes understanding of English more difficult. For example, in English, it has grammar and tenses, but most Asian countries do not have grammar and tenses in their language structure. For that reason, some of the scholars who study abroad have a different adaptation for every English skill that their teacher is given in class. One of the solutions to solve this problem is to provide a proper education technique or even give an extra program that can help each student (Shankar, 2015). Each prospective student must first take individual English language lessons in preparation before leaving their country. This method might not be the best solution, and there will be cost more money for each student so that it can be done. Although this problem can occur, students and universities can consider the solution to solve it.
