I am writing to express my desire to pursue the programme Masters in International Management for the winter semester. I have completed my Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce from T.M Jacob Memorial Government College, Kerala, INDIA.
During my university years, I have always strived to have an impressive academic performance and scored 8.19 CCPA out of 10. At all times I have considered that academic knowledge alone would never make me complete. Therefore, I took part in various extra-curricular activities while I was at college. I was a mentee of a programme named Walk With a Scholar. It had nearly 70 members with my Professor as the Mentor. The programme offered me many opportunities to interact with a lot of learned people and took part in a variety of activities. A study tour to Indian Space Research Organisation as a part of it was worth remembering. During the 3 years of membership in the programme (2013-2016) my leadership skills and interpersonal skills were improved considerably.Apart from that I participated in various competitions wherein I made good use of knowledge of business, economics and other soft skills. I and my team were very successful. From these contests, I learnt how to work as a team.
As for working experience I worked at Amruthu Residency, Koothattukulam, Kerala, India as an Accounts Executive where I got opportunities to make use of my academic knowledge to undertake payroll processing, cash handling, bank reconciliation etc. However, the business world has become quite unpredictable and tough. And an international Masters programme seems to me the best choice to adapt to the changing business scenario.
The undergraduate programme has provided me a foundation in Economics and Management and by completing the Masters programme offered by Friedrich Schiller University Jena, I would like to take my knowledge in these subjects to the next level. I have seen many international companies like Amazon, Walmart etc coming to my country, India to start operations. With a Masters in International Management, I would be better equipped to start a career in such global companies. In an international market that is driven by globalization, the significance of teaching exactly those additional skills increased dramatically in the last few years. One cannot do business globally without interacting with foreign cultures and for that one needs to understand them. Understanding International business operations is therefore crucial for today’s graduates and that’s where the Master’s programme of your esteemed University come in handy.
Nowadays the importance of International Management is greater than ever. Working across countries and continents is an indispensable thing for most firms nowadays. Hence, there is ample opportunities for graduates with an international perspective. I believe that this programme would give me an understanding of business management practices and tools that are involved in business on a global scale.
Moreover, this programme covers the subjects that appeals to me the most such as Finance, Accounting, etc. It was not just because of Friedrich Schiller University Jena’s excellent rankings but also because of its International Management Program, which combines the academic theory with important soft-skills and meaningful knowledge about foreign cultures and the intercourse with them, which fascinated me the most. Also, one of the most important key facts about this Program is the personal environment, your acclaimed University is offering, because every great idea started once in a small group of people.I believe the right blend of lectures that explore theoretical aspects and hands on experience with real life scenarios will help me succeed after the completion of the course
Furthermore, the safe and economically stable location combined with the excellent quality education provided by German Universities are other reasons which made me apply for the programme. Also I wanted to get out of my comfort zone and make new friends by going to a country that’s remote. I think by coming to Germany I would be able to experience and learn more about the European culture and way of living.The exposure to international environments would be a perfect addition to my career as we now live in a globalized world. The chance to learn a German language is something which I look forward to.
I plan to return to my country after the Masters programme to find a job in a multinational corporation where I could utilize my new set of skills obtained from the Masters programme and reach my career goal of becoming a top manager of a multinational corporation.
