Louis Armstrong- Louis Armstrong, aka 'Satchmo” was a native of New Orleans. He was an A-class expert in his profession. His pinnacle came in 1920, during that time he influenced countless musicians with his outrageous trumpet style and vocals. He grew up in a poor neighborhood that was nicknamed “The Battlefield”. Armstrong had a difficult childhood: his father was a worker in the factory and soon after the birth of Louis he abandoned the family. His mother, who frequently turned to prostitution, often left him with her maternal grandmother. In the fifth grade, Armstrong was obliged to leave school to start working. Louis had a brief stint in a foster home for boys because of an unlawful discharge of a deadly weapon. He received musical instruction on the cornet and fell in love with music. In 1914, the home released him, and he immediately began dreaming of a life making music. One of the greatest cornet players in town, Joe 'King' Oliver, began acting as a mentor to the young Armstrong, showing him pointers on the horn and occasionally using him as a sub. Though Armstrong was content to remain in New Orleans, in the summer of 1922, he received a call from Oliver to come to Chicago and join his Creole Jazz Band on the second cornet. With Oliver’s guidance Louis went on to make hits such as “What a Wonderful World”. Louis will always be known for his immense contributions to music.
Biggie Smalls- Christopher Wallace, aka Biggie Smalls and the Notorious B.I.G., lived a short life. He was 24 years old when he was gunned down in 1997 in Los Angeles, a murder that has never been solved. Smalls was from New York and had transformed East Coast hip hop practically single-handedly — overtaken by Dr. Dre and Death Row Records ' West Coast 'g-funk' sound in the early 1990s. He is widely considered to be one of the greatest rappers of all time. He was noted for his loose and easy flow, dark and semi-autobiographical lyrics, and storytelling abilities which focused on crime and hardship. He is also a superb improviser. Biggie is one of the original lyricists unlike the absolute trash called mumble rap we hear nowadays.
What a Wonderful World- This is a song recorded by Louis Armstrong, the American trumpeter, and composer. The lyrics of the song speak of the world's lovely things, like the clear skies, the glorious colors of the rainbow, the kindness and friendliness people express to each other, etc. With the many upsetting things happening to us on a daily basis, the song's lyrics are trying to make the audience realize that with the dark part of the world, the world also has a beautiful side that is worth appreciating. Thanks to the overwhelming beauty and grace of the album it's been used over the years to try to put together people of different races. Louis wrote this song to reflect the hardships he had experienced when he was younger. He highlights that even when life is rough there is always a reason to be positive.
Everybody Dies In Their Nightmares - Reflects anxiety about going to bed and other common life problems, such as women and exploitation. Basically, what this and the title itself refer to is the fact that the artist is trapped in his own head. And probably when he's going to sleep or when he's home when he's more susceptible to this mental anguish because those are the moments that he gets very stuck in his head.
