The art and science of gardening is a phenomenon that gained a lot of interest in western countries in the aftermath of the Second World War. It entails working on small vegetable patches as well as flower beds for the numerous benefits that come with the pursuit. Gardening is recognized as one of the perks of homeownership and has given rise to an explosion of journal books and columns, radio and TV programs that provide gardening tips and garden centers, nurseries, horticultural supplies seedsmen, and other related businesses. Therefore, I am convinced that gardening is a praiseworthy endeavor that individuals should consider pursuing.
First, gardening offers an individual with a relaxing pursuit that is all so rewarding. The small garden patches where an individual either plants some flowers or vegetables provide an enriching and captivating activity that a person can work with their hands and see the transformation that their efforts bear. Starting from the small tasks of preparing the ground, getting the seedlings planting, watering, mulching, adding the necessary manure, and so forth, and individuals can invest their time and effort and relieve all forms of stress generated from work or life.
Second, the pursuit meets the need to be self-sufficient in providing the day to day groceries that one needs. It is a rewarding endeavor when an individual gets to see the work of their hands yield fruit that can be served on their tables in the form of vegetables, sweet corn ears, fruit and so forth further other than the cost benefits that gardening offers to the practitioner, it also provides superior quality of product in terms of flavor compared to the products obtained from the grocery stores. The vegetables are always fresh and readily available for consumption by the interested parties
Gardening also radically transforms the environment creating an ambient and lovely place to live. With the numerous challenges affecting the environment, air pollution, global warming, and so forth, gardening helps to make a difference and create a microclimate for one to enjoy away from the challenges experienced in the society. it helps to create a haven where one escapes to at the end of their workday, away from noise and pollutants of busy town environment
However, despite the numerous benefits that come with gardening, it also has its downside, which can be used to argue against its praiseworthiness. For example, one can point to the fact that it's a dirty job where the gardeners have to handle soil. This is, however, not a significant challenge since one can always wash their hand or use a pair of gloves to protect their hands. Further gardening comes with various problems such as bugs that seek to destroy and the different weather changes.
These challenges are, however, easy to navigate and are simply hurdles experienced when seeking the rewards of gardening. With interest in the subject, the full range of resources available, and proper research, one can determine how to address the challenges that arise. In all gardening is a praiseworthy endeavor with the tranquility, yields, scenery, and products sense of adventure it offers.
