Discrimination means separating people for benefits according to their age,sex,nation,religion and any type of characteristic that can be differed from the other people.Nearly thousand years ago the Andalusian Muslims have been discriminated after the fall of Islamic Spain.Islamic Spain was a polycultural of three divine religions. People from different nations, cultures and three monotheistic religions have lived together for many centuries.Also we can call the period of Muslims in Spain as the ‘Golden Age’ too.Both Muslims , Christians and Jews have combined their cultures and religions.Although the fall of Islamic Spain was not like its beginning. They have killed many thousands of Muslims and ones they did not kill became slaves and a second-class citizen.Then Muslims fell into the terrible clutches of the Inquisition, which was established on 2 January 1481.The Muslims they did not kill,christianized and given to the rich families or to the church. Andalusian Muslims have been discriminated against socially , educationally and economically.
Andalusian Muslims have been discriminated against socially after losing power and authority in Islamic Spain ( Western Spain) . After the fall of Islamic Spain , the Christians and Europeans did not tolerate the Muslims like how Muslims did. Muslims have some specific rules , when they have the authority but they did not discriminate against the Christians or Jews . Islamic Spain was a golden age of religious,ethnic tolerance and interfaith harmony between three monotheistic religions.’’Christians and Jews were not forced to live in ghettoes or other special locations,they were not slaves,they were not prevented from following their faith,they were not forced to convert or die under Muslim rule,they were not banned from any particular ways of earning a living; they often took on jobs shunned by Muslims;these included unpleasant work such as tanning and butchery,but also pleasant jobs such as banking and dealing in gold and silver , they could work in the civil service of the Islamic ruler.’’(The Editors Of BBC 4) .According to the article of BBC , the Muslims have tolerated the Christians and Jews . The Christians and Jews did not have to live in ghettos or in any area or region.They could also have jobs or own(buy a firm) jobs just as how Muslims did.They had the chance to join the civil services of Islamic rulers and they could take part in justice or administration.However, the Christians have discriminated against Muslims socially in their social life. The Muslims became second class-citizens after the fall of Islamic Spain .Besides,they’ve killed most of Muslims and the ones they did not become slaves or servers .In conclusion, the Muslims have been discriminated against socially after the fall of Islamic Spain.
Andalusian Muslims have been discriminated educationally after the fall of Islamic Spain.After the Muslims lost and Christians retook the authority in the Western Spain .Some Christian Schools and Institutes have banned Muslims from their education institutions and discriminated against them educationally.The Muslims did not separate the Christians at education or did not discriminate them at education .’’Although there are no general restrictions on religious and cultural symbols and dress, in recent years there have been several cases of girls who were forbidden to wear the headscarf at school. For instance, the public Institute Camilo José Cela de Pozuelo de Alarcòn in Madrid forbids the wearing of any dress covering the head in its internal regulation. As an example of this expression, Najwa, a 16-year-old girl wearing the headscarf, was not allowed to attend classes with her schoolmates and was isolated in the visitors room.’’(Amnesty International 72).According to the article of Amnesty International , a 16 year old girl,Najwa has been discriminated against in her school.The principle of the school did not let to join her classes and her friends because of the headscarf of the girl.The principle went much further and has isolated the girl in the visitors room of the school all day.How shame it is to discriminate a girl only because of her headscarf. To Conclude , Muslims have been discriminated against educationally after the fall of Islamic Spain.
Last but not least , Andalusian Muslims have discriminated against economically after the fall of Islamic Spain. After the fall of Islamic Spain the Christians and Traders from Spain have discriminated against Muslims with wanting extra taxes and late transmitting their traded goods.After discriminating most of the Muslims in Spain , the Christians did not persecute some of the noble and wealthy Muslims families.According to the international trade records of Muslim countries and Andalusia trade records , the Christians have discriminated the Andalusian Muslims with extra taxes , exactions and late transporting the traded goods of the Muslims. Because of these discriminations assets, treasures and wealths of the Muslims have come to end.
Last but not least, Andalusian Muslims have been discriminated against after the fall of the Islamic Spain.
The beginning of Islamic Spain was so bright although the end of it was not that good.In nearly 1448 , the Christians have been starting to discriminate against the Muslims when the Muslims have lost the authority in the Western Spain.They have killed many thousands of Muslims and discriminated the ones that they did not kill.The Muslims have been discriminated against educationally , socially and economically .
