People have found ways to communicate from the beginning of life, using smoke from fires, birds, and later on letters. It’s the human nature that gives us the need to communicate and connect to the world around us. I have to admit that things are so much easier for us now a days, the world is getting smaller by the minute, people are developing new technologies every day, and that is all because of the Internet. There is no doubt that the Internet has had an enormous effect on humanity, both positive and negative. It has changed the way the world works, some people might think it’s changed to a better place with unlimited resources while others think it is the reason for distraction and addiction.
Social media platforms are a huge part of the Internet, it is easier to connect, talk and catch up with friends and family. Some people think so social media as an escape from reality and a way to express themselves in many creative ways. You can easily promote your ideas on there as well, the social media became a very important marketing strategy to follow if you want your product or service to be known. You can look on social media from that perceptive or you can look at it as a waste of people’s time especially young kids and teenagers, and toxic place where people can hide their true identity and for the purpose of hurting others, which is called cyber bullying.
The Internet made getting the needed information less work and time consuming, you can search the web for anything and you can get hundreds of results to help you get what you want. That sometimes might be overwhelming considering that not every piece of information on the Internet is correct and you have to be careful about getting your information from trusted and accurate sites.
The shopping experience has changed too, people now can shop from home. There are so many shops and stores online you can view every item in that shop while sitting on your coach, then all you have to do is order it and wait for the item to be dropped at your front door. Online shopping has its cons too, the fun of going to the actual store and see the items in real life is being taken away from you, and it also makes it harder to save money since its easier access.
There are many other uses of the Internet, some will find helpful while others will think the complete opposite. We can all agree on the fact that to every good thing there is the bad. Suppose that each person made sure to use the Internet the right way and thought carefully before making any decision online, then we will be able to realize that new technology is not good or evil in and of itself, it’s all about how people choose to use it.
