The Battle of Badr was the first battle in Islamic history, and it took place on the 17th of Ramadan in the second year of Hijrah (Ibn Katheer, 2001). Allah mentions this battle in the Quran in several places. “And already had Allah given you victory at [the battle of] Badr while you were few in number. Then fear Allah; perhaps you will be grateful” (Quran 2:123). This battle was the first time the Muslims fought against the disbelievers from Quraish. The Muslim army consisted of approximately 300 voluntary Muslims, ready to fight the disbelievers, while they prepared a well-equipped army of 1000 soldiers. The war ended miraculously in favor of the Muslims. Quraish suffered from severe loss and embarrassment. This victory brought happiness and hope to the believer, it boosted the morale of the believers. When Prophet Muhammad saw the Quraish marching to the battlefield, he made the following supplication: “O Allah, Here comes Quraish in their vanity and pride contending with you and calling your Messenger a liar. Also, the absolute support is given by Sad Ibn Muadh (RA) and Al Miqdad (RA) in the name of their people that they will support the Prophet shows us clearly how strongly the companions of the Prophet (pbuh) were united (Ibn Katheer, 2001).
