Zimbabwe is a very blessed nation who have lots of interesting tourist destinations, one of them is Hwange National Park. It is the largest national park in Zimbabwe. Mr. Munyaradzi Pakamisa describe and explained the pickup location, safety guidelines, the environment, and the animals that you will see in the park. Safari is a great adventure for those who loves to see wildlife. It is an opportunity to glimpse the wonders of nature and breathtaking sunset.

There are so many safari adventures in Africa. One of them is Hwange National Park. Founded in 1928, it is the largest natural reserve in Zimbabwe and located in the west of the country. There are lots of animals here in the park, they have elephants, lions, zebras, giraffe, cheetah, birds and many more.

Mr. Munya said that the first thing to remember when you are on safari is safety first, whether you walk in the main area or whenever you decide to go, you should know your surroundings for you to be safe. Safari is a vehicle for the tourist and the reason why it is open because to give opportunity to the tourist to take a great photography, that is why it is called a ‘photographic safari’. Mr. Munya said that as they drive around, they ask you to remain seated. Standing is prohibited because they may encounter deadly roads. He said if you have anything that you have to say, if you drop anything just tell and let your safari guide know, to secure your safety before anything else, because sometimes animals attack, when they see local people. This only happened to those who ignore some guidelines mentioned by the tour guide and those who get out the vehicle.

Near Acacia trees you can find giraffes, zebra’s, hyena, leopards and sometimes lions. That is why the purpose of the safari guide is to inform and guide the tourist for them to know where they can go and to avoid any unwanted situations. He explained that it is a very long drive before you go to Hwange National Park, therefore they include breakfast and picnic lunch for guest. After an hour of driving, they may have a coffee and tea break just to relax, stretch their legs and also enjoy coffee in the bush. It is also the time to talk to some other guest and have an interesting conversation not just about safari but to get to know where they came from and some interesting information. Here in Hwange National Park, also known as ‘Land of Giants’, you can see any animals like elephants, giraffe, lions, zebra, birds and many more. Its mission is to be the world leader in sustainable conservation that is why the government enable a shoot to kill policy, so they need to protect all the animals by all means to preserve and conserve national landscape, scenery, the future wildlife generations and the national stability of plants and animals.

Mr. Munya explained that elephants play a very important role in the bush field, because elephants are the ones who creates waterholes in the park and they influence a healthy functioning of the ecosystem. There are two groups of elephants. The first is the breeding herd animals, which is compose of many female animals that is about 14-16 years old. The second is the bachelor herd animals that compose of male elephants that sometimes a big boost male animals wants to make peace by his own. When the trees and grasses are dry, they will detect it. They will dig and eat all the minerals and its calcium. After they dig it, it will create a hole that becomes full of water when the raining season came. After a year it will become their bathing area, and they will visit this same area to wallow and use their trunks to mud bathing and cooling down. They used their trunks as a hand, nose and can also be a weapon. Although elephants help our ecosystem, through the over population of the elephants it becomes a disadvantage, because elephants in the dry season destroy trees, reduce canopy cover, and destroys habitats for other mammals. When elephants destroying trees, it can create fires and can affects small bushes.

Green season is the time to see the beautiful migrant birds like steppe eagle, Mr. Munya said that it is amazing because you have got to see a lot of birds visiting the park, this is the time when you can see wildlife eagles. Some visit from Germany like the white stocks or called 'pilate migrants' they visit in Southern Africa starting from November after the summer and from places like Germany. They avoid cold weather of Germany, so they called it 'common summer visitors', because they do not breed in Southern Africa, but they do breed in Germany. So, in Germany they called it 'common summer residents', because there were they breed. There also have a yellow-billed kite that shows different colors. Some birds are quite interesting and confusing like the steppe eagle, because when they arrive, they give us lots of confusion because it is hard to quickly conclude if it is the steppe eagle or tawny eagle because they are quite similar. The difference is the steppe eagle is lightly big and the gap of the steppe eagle extend up to the back of its ear. While the tawny eagle’s gap does not extend up to the back of its ear.

Dry season is the season where the tourist wants to visit because it is easily to find so many animals to the pumped water holes and wait for them to come to you. Mr. Munya said that tourist also want to see the famous and iconic lion in the world called 'Cecil'. Cecil was being studied and tracked by a research team of the University of Oxford as part of a long-term study, the famous lion Cecil was known for being unafraid of humans. Male lions are much bigger and stronger than female lions. They also have a distinctive thick mane of hair around their heads that females lack. He said that lions are lazy, they spend their time 20 hours resting with only about 2-4 hours of activity. They can see more during the night than day, therefore they called them 'the nights assassins'. They also have more predators in the park like leopards, lions, cheetah, hyena, ox, cats and curacaos. However, these predators cause great havocs in some areas, meaning people do adjusting to the park, there is some problems when it comes to the animals. It started with the live stuck living in the community’s area when they lived and comeback to the area they can be detected by the lions and sometimes these lions are killed by the local people, that leads to the decline of the population. So, the approach for the lion research to make sure that the population will increase is the shoot to kill policy by the gun-rangers to protect the lions and its population. There’s a lot happening to Africa there are human and animals’ conflict. Not only lions who create great havoc, even the elephants in the wet season are living the park and go to common area that sometimes create a threat to human lives. That is why they protecting the safety of the people as well as the animals.

In addition, he also explained about the sundowner, which is a beautiful sunset in the park, he said it is a good experience while watching some animals drink water. It is also a great chance to talk to some other guest, drink, relax and enjoy the sunset before heading home.

To sum it up, it was a presentation about a virtual safari adventure and Mr. Munyaradzi Pakamisa was able to present it well. It was very educational, informative and magnificent. He also highlighted the beauty of Zimbabwe, especially Hwange National Park as one of the bucket lists for the tourist destination. The main purpose of the park was to preserve the animals and to protect them by getting poach, they had their mission and it is to be the world-leading in sustainable conservation. This adventure is highly recommended for those who love to seek the beauty of wildlife as well as the experience within the escapade. The best time to visit is during the dry season for you to easily find so many animals. The government separated the land, animals, and wildlife. This presentation emphasized the care and love for the wildlife animals it is said to be preserved for today and for the future generation.
