Language deeply influences one’s life since it is us humans way of communication. People all around the world uses languages as a main source of communication with one another. Considering there are approximately 6500 languages exist on earth, it is essential to know at least two languages in one’s lifetime to communicate amongst individuals from different nations. People that are bilingual or multilingual show a better understanding of difficult circumstances, find useful solutions, and are prone to make well thought decisions instantly. Multilingual individuals tend to have a better memory and vocabulary than most monolinguals. The importance of communication is commonly over looked until one has to travel the world for either employment or enjoyment. Using tools that are similar to “Google Translate” occasionally makes mistakes and mistranslations that might lead one’s associates to misunderstand. Learning a language to communicate with one another even if it is just the basics will show one’s associates that the individual made an effort to make a bond.
Learning a language enhances one’s memory and listening skills. It has been proven that bilingual people are able to pick up nuances and subtleties from any given situation. Bilingual people tend to look into or listen to small details of most activities that they do, which then they remember for a long time, therefore improving their memory. According to a survey done in 2019, 43% of the Australian bilingual high school students showed significantly improved scores than monolingual students. This has also been seen in Asian and other non-English country’s’ schools. They learn their first language and second language as English and in many cases a third language too. It has also been proven in an experiment done in 2014 by the phycologists Ellen Bialystok and Michelle Martin-Rhee, which bilingual pre-school students showed a great understanding of puzzles and riddles compared to monolingual students who were in the same grade. Although English is one of the mostly spoken languages that exist on earth, there are many benefits in learning another language.

Being fluent in at least two languages gives you an edge over monolingual competitors in prospective employee meetings. These open doors exist in all organizations and divisions which go from promoting to the travel industry.
