The Renaissance was a period of cultural movement, innovation, artists, change, and civilization. This was so that it could reconnect more with the approach and aspirations of the Greek and Roman civilizations. It was named the Renaissance, which meant ‘rebirth’ because people thought they restored the culture of the Roman Empire after The Black Death.
The Renaissance first took place in Italy and soon spread across Europe. It lasted 300 years, from the 14th century to the 17th century. It took place because people started to think for themselves. They finally realized they and how they live shouldn’t be dictated by who or what class they were born under but that they could use their efforts to rise in society and live a better life. They also wanted to promote beauty, truth, and wisdom to the world. This caused them to attempt many new things that brought better civilization, innovation, and art.

The people of the Renaissance lived at risk because of The Black Death. The Black Death was a plague that hit during the 1350s and killed 80% of the population and it lasted until the 1450s. Social class also existed during this time and was decided by a few factors. It was decided by your money, career, or if you had government power. The classes: government, citizens, and underprivileged people also decided what you could get for example your food or your clothes. Underprivileged people were usually farmers and lived simply. Citizens were people who weren’t farmers. Many liked to travel and tell stories. Lastly, the government was filled with rich people. They lived in luxury and could afford expensive things.
There were a lot of famous people that came from the Renaissance period. There was Lorenzo de’ Medici, who was famous for fostering the Renaissance, Petrarch, who inspired humanist philosophy which later helped the Renaissance blossom, Poggio Bracciolini, a scholar and humanist who came across the only surviving manuscripts Lucretius, de Rerum Natura, which provides us with the most complete explanation of the philosophy and worldview of Epicurus. Furthermore, there was also William Shakespeare, who a lot of people know as a great writer, and Leonardo da Vinci, one of the greatest painters in history and one of his most famous paintings, Mona Lisa.
The Renaissance has passed many things on to the modern world. They inspired us to have better urbanism. With their imagination, they made their architecture beautiful and useful at the same time. This could also inspire some of us to be more imaginative and think about what can make certain things better. In the Renaissance period, a lot of great artists were also born and they drew amazing art that conveyed meaning and philosophical messages.
