Humankind has evolved so much in the past decades. We have made amazing technological and scientific things, one example is wireless technologies. We were able to become a much more social world, focusing not only on ourselves but the collective world. Globalization and the environment are intriguingly interconnected. Thus, climate change is an urgent issue that requires immediate action. Global warming is projected to have a number of effects on the oceans. Ongoing effects include rising sea levels due to thermal expansion and melting of glaciers and ice sheets, and warming of the ocean surface, leading to increased temperature stratification. Climate change is having serious impacts on the world’s water systems through more flooding and droughts. Warmer air can hold a higher water content, which makes rainfall patterns more extreme. Extremes of drought and flooding will become more common, causing displacement and conflict. There are many issues resulting from climate change and a lot of consequences that it could bring.

Global energy consumption rises as well. Carbon dioxide emissions have increased due to the sources of energy we have been using every day. The increase has made a very big impact on our planet.

Some may say that globalization leads to an increase in global demand, resulting in an increase in production. This indirectly contributes to the exploitation of the environment and the depletion of natural resources. The increase in economic activity leads to greater emissions of industrial pollutants and more environmental degradation. Countries become more industrialized and they’ve increased the production of their goods in order to overcome the demands. These industries in turn emitted various greenhouse gases, which acted as a major contributor to climate change.

The change is due to human activities and it should be a global issue. The effect of this can cause an increase in drought conditions, floods, rising sea levels, and extreme temperatures.

But, deglobalization may worsen emissions. Globalization doesn’t just entail the movement of manufactured goods, but also the transfer of intermediate capital goods and technologies. That means multinational corporations can transfer their green know-how to countries with low environmental standards. Globalization has another benefit, it’s been at the forefront of creating public awareness about many things, for example, about labor, and environmental standards through the platforms of international activities such as fair trade and eco-labels. The success of this environmental public awareness has resulted in consumer preference evolving. Producers are therefore able to build eco-friendly products. Without international trade, consumers would have limited choices.

Aside from the effect of globalization on the climate, it also has some positive impacts. In order to develop awareness of this global threat, industrialized countries should limit their greenhouse gas emission level. Governments, industries, and individuals in industries nations have collectively begun continual steps of action to reduce the emission of greenhouse gases.

In the past 11 years, the world has made incredible progress in areas like advancing climate science, rapidly growing renewable energy technologies, and international cooperation. An Inconvenient Truth was responsible for all these developments, what the film did was bring the challenge of the climate crisis out into the open and into mainstream culture like never before. The result was people in every time zone started asking themselves what they could do, and got working on the answers.

Some of the progress was that renewable energy, such as solar and wind, is cheaper than fossil fuel-based electricity in many parts of the world. One of the biggest success stories in climate solutions is the growth of solar power. Other than that, in 2006, concerted international action on climate change was still just sputtering along. The Kyoto Protocol, the first serious attempt at setting international targets for reducing emissions had gone into effect the year before, it wasn’t smooth sailing all the way, but in the years that followed, countries kept talking and kept working on a new kind of framework that could bring nations at every stage of development together to solve our common challenge, leading to the landmark Paris Agreement in December 2015. It wasn’t easy getting there, but the Paris Agreement represents a real turning point. Formally signed on Earth Day 2016, the deal is the first of its kind to set global targets for reducing carbon emissions and includes commitments from major carbon emitters like the US, China, and India. We know we can solve our problem, if we stay committed to this path, and if our world leaders follow through with their commitments to reducing emissions in the Paris Agreement.

As a society, we have structured our day-to-day lives around historical and current climate conditions. We are accustomed to a normal range of conditions and may be sensitive to extremes that fall outside of this range. It could affect our society through impacts on a number of different social, cultural, and natural resources. For example, climate change could affect human health, infrastructure, and transportation systems, as well as energy, food, and water supplies.

Some groups of people will likely face greater challenges than others. Climate change may especially impact people who live in areas that are vulnerable to coastal storms, drought, and sea level rise or people who live in poverty, older adults, and immigrant communities. Similarly, some types of professions and industries may face considerable challenges from climate change. Professions that are closely linked to weather and climate, such as outdoor tourism, commerce, and agriculture, will likely be especially affected.

Moral issue about global warming is caused mainly by our actions, and somehow we ignore the problem and its effects. We tend to care only for ourselves, we do not keep in mind that our well-being and environmental health are closely tied to each other, and it is at stake.

The movie “An Inconvenient Truth” aims to call the attention of everyone to be aware of the danger that society faces from climate change and the urgent actions we should take immediately before it is too late. People can make a difference by saving energy, consuming less, being mindful of transportation issues, and being a model for change.
