Secondly, some interested and eager teenagers, mostly high school students tend to watch Korean dramas to learn about Korean cultures which include their language, cultural and religious views, food habits, and clothing styles. It is said that, if one wants to know about other countries' cultures, then he should read books or watch movies about that country. Nowadays, to know about Korean culture, people find it easy to watch Korean dramas rather than read Korean books. Watching Korean dramas in Korean language along with subtitles helps a lot to learn the language and the use of the intonation of the speech. Next, the religious views of the Korean people and how they celebrate their religious or occasional days can also be known from watching the dramas, for example, by watching the dramas ‘Bride of the Water God’ and ‘Arang and the Magistrate’, one can easily know about the deities whom the Korean people worship and how they worship. Again, in almost all of the Korean dramas, the directors and the producers keep the scene of having food and drinking beer. By watching these dramas, one can easily know the names of Korean food items, their food habits, and how to eat them. Other than these, one can easily learn about the previous kingship of Korea, their former culture, and traditional outfit by watching the dramas Scarlet Heart: Goryeo’, ‘Rooftop Prince’, ‘Queen for Seven Days’ and many others which are made based on Korea’s kingship events. Thus, along with having recreation, people also get to learn about Korean culture through watching Korean dramas.
Finally, there are lots of variations in the plot of the Korean dramas which make the dramas worth watching. Dramas are made in all types of genres including comedy, romance, thriller, action, and many more with different stories that sometimes uphold realistic stories and sometimes unrealistic fantasies. Some dramas depict real-life problems like family problems, social or educational problems, and friendship problems, for example, ‘High School Love on!’ ‘Goblin’, ‘Kill Me Heal Me’, and many more. When a teenager finds similarities between his/her life and the plot of the drama, he/she becomes more interested in watching the drama. Again, those who feel bored and want to watch something funny or romantic to get rid of the boredom, tune in to watch Korean drama because there are dozens of dramas of the romantic-comedy genre that are appealing to teenagers. Hearts states, “There are many factors that play into wanting to watch a whole series more than once. Most of the time, it’s because of two main reasons: the two main leads and their chemistry, and how captivating the storyline is”(2018).
