Actually, the majority of foreign-born residents in the United States—55 percent—are native to this area. But in recent years, this pattern has shifted, with an increasing number of immigrants coming from Asian nations as opposed to Latin American ones (Budiman 2020). In recent years, the undocumented population has been a central topic of discussion in politics and government, with topics including border security, the efficacy of immigration enforcement, and the humanitarian implications of immigration reform. Geographically, immigrants are dispersed unevenly throughout the United States, with the bulk living in a few strategically important states. Together, Texas, Florida, and California are home to a sizable share of immigrants in the nation. For instance, California continues to be the state with the highest proportion of people who were born outside of the United States and has long served as a gateway for immigrants, mostly from Asia and Latin America. Due in large part to existing social networks, economic possibilities, and closeness to countries of origin, the immigrant populations in Texas and Florida have also grown significantly. However, worries about how immigration will affect wages, the number of jobs available to native-born workers, and the burden on social services will continue to influence political debate and public opinion. There are requests for stricter immigration controls or a decrease in the amount of legal immigration since these worries are frequently heightened during times of political polarisation or economic hardship. However, data repeatedly demonstrates that immigration has a beneficial overall economic impact, with benefits often outweighing costs in most situations. In summary, throughout the last several decades, there have been substantial changes to the immigration landscape to the United States, including variations in the countries of origin of immigrants, fluctuations in the patterns of legal and unauthorised immigration, and swings in the number of refugees admitted.
