Constitution Panel Discussion Overview First thing I truly appreciated all the panel guests being prepared and all having different interpretations of each question. This allowed me to truly learn all the important elements that go into creating the constitution that runs our country today. As an 18 year old I never really recognize how important my vote can actually be. Yes, we are educated on the three branches of government and all the positions that can be held in the government but we aren’t truly educated on what our vote can do for our country and how our vote follows the constitution. We also are poorly educated by seeing the extremist talking on the news standing their opinions on different social issues but some thing I’ve had to learn on my own and this panel discussion really clarified is that you can truly only create your own opinion. I could’ve sat and listened to that panel for hours and made my own answers to the different questions but would any of the five guests truly been able to alter my opinion once it was set in my brain? I wouldn’t think so but today I was my mine was changed. I never knew the true difference between a democracy and a republic but I did know that people had the right to voice their opposition. No matter what opinion you may have you hold the power to make a change in this and that’s some thing that truly got glued into my head today. Having an opposing opinion is not easy no matter what side you’re on but the biggest thing I learn today is you have to stay respectful and listen to others views you will be shocked of what you can learn. Sitting in the audience today I truly gained respect for every party in our country. That’s what the panel guest represented for me. They stated multiple options to each question but also gave attention and respected other panel guest views. This allowed better clarification for me and I could relate the answers to the main point of the constitution. Throughout the discussion I was confused when large complicating words were brought up like treasury, insurrection and sedition but Mr. Thrash did an excellent job defining all those kind of words throughout the discussion. In the panel it was said that Abraham Lincoln feared mobs within our country going against the constitution and I honestly question what Lincoln would think of today because I feel people daily are more and more against our country’s constitution. With many controversies like gay marriage, marijuana and abortion what is the proper way to go about an opinion on these topics? Personally I’m a devoted Christian and I was raised around blue collar republicans my whole life. I have receive multiple cases of hate in my life as a Christian but I never even get the chance to explain myself after I tell them I’m a Christian. I do wish there was someone who could educate me on how to go about this opposition in my life. With the “Constitution bending not breaking” how can we avoid the bend. There is more separation in this country than ever and I would gladly be the person who helps are nation come together and quit dividing over opposing views. More issues will only be arising and inflation will keep tearing apart this nation one level of government at the time. As said today it starts at Local, State and the federal levels. How can a young 18 year old girl like me start the cycle and get back on our constitutional path way? Thank you for providing this opportunity for me! I learned a lot and got a lot of clarification on topics I was fully aware of. Don’t worry I promise to vote come November! I will forever be proud to be an American!
