School Financial Sources According to Suryana (2008). School financial and financing sources are grouped into three, namely (1) central and regional governments allocated for educational purposes (2) parents or students (3) the community 1. Funds from the Government Funds from the government are provided through the Routine Budget channel in the Activity List (DIK) which is allocated to all schools for each school year. These funds are commonly called routine funds. The amount of funds allocated in the DIK is usually determined based on the number of students in grades I, II and III. The budget items and the amount of funds for each type of expenditure have been determined by the government in the DIK. Expenditures and accountability for the use of routine funds (DIK) must be in accordance with the budget items. In addition to DIK, the government is now also providing School Operational Assistance (BOS) funds. These funds are provided periodically and are used to finance all school operational activities. 2. Funds from Parents of Students Funding from parents of students is known as committee contributions. The amount of funds that must be paid by parents of students is determined by the school committee meeting. In general, committee funds consist of: • Fixed monthly funds as a contribution that must be paid by parents every month while their child is a student at the school; • Incidental funds charged to new students which are usually only once during the three years of being a student (payment can be made in installments); • Voluntary funds which are usually offered to parents of certain students who are generous and willing to give their donations voluntarily without any ties. 3. Community Funds These funds are usually voluntary, non-binding donations from members of the school community who are concerned about educational activities at a school. The voluntary donations given are a form of concern because they feel called to help advance education. These funds are received from individuals, from organizations, from foundations or from business entities, both government and private. 4. Alumni Funds Assistance from alumni to help improve school quality is not always in the form of money (for example books, tools and learning equipment). However, funds collected by schools from alumni are voluntary donations from alumni who feel called to support the smooth running of activities for the progress and development of the school. Some of these funds are received directly from alumni, but some are collected through school reunions or lustrum events. 5. Funds from Activity Participants These funds are collected from students themselves or members of the community who enjoy additional or extracurricular educational services, such as computer training, English courses or other skills. 6. Funds from School Entrepreneurial Activities There are several schools that hold business activities to obtain funds. This fund is a collection of results from various school entrepreneurial activities that can be managed by school staff or students, for example cooperatives, school canteens, annual bazaars, telephone shops, photocopying businesses, and others.
