Brochure for American visitors to France Why did it take so long for a stable democratic regime to take hold in France? French revolution brought many changes in the political and democracy world in France. It took so long for democracy to stabilize in France. This is due to overthrowing the King Napoleon who took control of the government. Napoleon was the only man in power at that time and French government had to make agreements to balance the power among different levels of government. Moreover, French revolution also opens the threats from the neighboring country. As a result French were forced to defend their lands with the weakened government. How did de Gaulle's changes to the country's institution and social, political, and economic processes contribute to the creation of an effective industrial state? During the Gaulle’s rule the decisions remain in the common market till 1958. The purpose was the plan in early 1960 to the accession of British to EC which not only provoke the crisis of empty chair in 1965-1966 which results in Luxembourg compromise. In each case it was suggested that Gaulle’s primary and foremost motivation was economic but not ideological and geopolitical interest. Following his predecessors Gaulle promote French agriculture and industry that were established to protect market for the exporting products. However, if he follows the ideas in foreign policy it suggests the strong democratic control. What is the impact of the French influential elite whose roots lie in the bureaucracy? France always experience a fair share of bureaucracy in the making of its policy and to implementation of these polices that has made under the control of bureaucracy. However, democracy in France has taken much time to take over the arena of politics. This reality has emerged from the rule of dictators who got lessons from their elites. Discuss what France's recent foreign policy says about its character as a nation The foreign policy of France has been founded on the several centuries having some fundamental principles and diplomatic traditions. However, the rights of people, self-determination, democratic principles and respect for the rights of humans, cooperation among nations and respect for law and order. Having this framework, France is concern to preserve its national independency while working to the same time to enhance the international and regional solidarity.
