Do you believe the creator was successful in achieving their purpose? Why or why not?
Yes, I do believe that James Brown was successful in achieving his goal of promoting Black
Empowerment. Music is powerful and can invoke feelings and emotions. Say it loud I’m Black
and I’m a song that does just that. The lyrics in this song represent prejudice against Black
Americans and promotes black pride and self-reliance. This song is a staple in the African
American community and has been played in homes, and at gatherings for decades. I feel this
song is especially significant during the current times of racial discord.
