Why do Christians believe that morality is absolute and objective, rather than relative and subjective? If morality is objective, where do Christians get their moral standard? Your answer in 75-100 words: As mention on the topic 6 overview, Christians believe that morality is absolute and objective because the Christian faith is based on historical events that are documented in the bible. The commandments are like the moral law for Christian, God wants you lo love him, your neighbor and yourself. “These timeless moral truths act as a window through which you may see the character of God and as a mirror by which you may see yourself and your need of a savior.” 2. Which case did you choose? The case I choose is the case of Ruth, abortion. b. In Chapter 2 of The Beginning of Wisdom textbook and the Topic 1 Overview, the elements of a worldview (ultimate reality, nature of the universe, humanity, knowledge, ethics, purpose) are presented. In the case you chose, which worldview element is going to be the biggest factor for determining right and wrong in the case you chose? Why? Your answer in 75-100 words: Ethics can be one of the biggest factors for determining right from wrong in the case I choose. “Experience and intuition suggest that human being are deeply moral creatures who are intensely interested in matter of right and wrong, especially those matters in which they have a vested interest.” (ch.2). The ability to take a decision can be based in the information they have and based it on the commandments and the historical events documented in the bible. c. How does the Christian worldview describe the worldview element you identified? Your answer in 75-100 words: Christians are a gift from God, and they all have a purpose in life regardless of our appearance or health. He created mand kind to be just like him and honor him. They should not do anything that its against him or that he would not do. God is love and we should love ourselves and other the same way. Christians follow the historical events documented in the bible and the ten commandments which define their ethics. d. What are Bible passages (cite at most three) that will guide the ethics for the case you chose? How do these Bible passages apply to this case? Your answer in 75-100 words: “As for you be fruitful and increase in number; multiply on the earth and increase upon it.”(Genesis 9;7). God wants us to reproduce and have kids. “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.” (Jeremiah 1:5). This proves to me that he makes no mistakes even if it’s a baby with health issues. “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” (Jeremiah 29:11) God knows why he does thing he has special plan for each. e. Based on your answers to b and c, explain the Christian response to the case you chose. In other words, how might the Christian worldview resolve the issue? Your answer in 75-100 words: Christians are pro-life. The only one that has the authority to give or take away a life is God. He has a plan for us and has a reason for things to happen the way they do. “Trust in the lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.” (proverbs3:5-6). All Christians have a purpose in life and are here to learn and teach other. God’s timings are perfect. 3. Your previous responses built a Christian ethical stance and provided a Christian resolution for the case. How might this Christian resolution to the issue increase human dignity and human value? Your answer in 50-75 words: Commandment number six said you shall not murder. (exodus 20:13). Christians are in favor of life they believe that a life is a blessing, and they are defending the unborn babies that cannot defend themselves. “the spirit of God has made me, and the breath of the almighty gives me life” (Job 33:4). 4. The Christian position that humans should flourish comes from belief in the goodness of God. How so? What are the connections between God's goodness and human flourishing? Your answer in 50-75 words: Christians follow what Gods want from them and one thing was to love. Christians encourage happiness through love and the study of the bible. The created reward we will get form God is the afterlife and that can be rewarded being close to God and follow him. We should love him, us and our neightbors. 5. Considering the Christian resolution you built for the case and everyone involved in the scenario, what might be some benefits or unintended consequences that come from this resolution? What might be challenging for people to accept or do? Your answer in 75-100 words: I think that the most challenging thing for this case would be the preparation and the realty of living with a child with down syndrome. The benefits of having the baby is not only that she is finally getting the baby they were asking for but they got a one of a kind special and very loving one. 6. What are some ways that Christians should be active in helping to alleviate the suffering related to this issue? Give specific examples that ordinary people can do. Your answer in 75-100 words: I think that organizations that help the mother and their family with moral support, money for extra expenses and food. The organization can also talk about the consequences of abortion and the complication that it might bring. I also believe having day care affordable and that also include special need children. Ordinary people can help donating money, food, and even their testimonies. The testimonies can encourage them to have their babies. Lastly volunteer in the day cares.
