Persuasive Essay Outline Introductory Paragraph: Hook: Abortion is a medical procedure that terminates a pregnancy. It is basic healthcare for millions of women and girls who become pregnant. Annually it is estimated that worldwide 1 in 4 pregnancies end in abortion. (Here Are the Basic Facts about Abortion That You Should Know, n.d.) Background and contextual information: There are two sides to the abortion argument. Pro life is the argument that abortion is murder and should be illegal. Pro choice is the argument that abortion is the choice of the mother as to carrying out the pregnancy is best for her or not. Thesis: Abortion is necessary healthcare because it can prevent unwanted children from a lifetime of trauma, prohibit suffering in children with extreme disabilities, as well as avert major health risks to the mother. Supporting paragraph 1 (Subtopic 1) Persuasive Topic Sentence (include position and align with first subtopic): Abortion is necessary healthcare because it can prevent unwanted children from a lifetime of trauma.
