Say for example, if there are 10 brands of bikes and the price of one of the brands increases, there is liable to be a sharp decline in the quantity of that particular brand demanded. Conversely, while the demand for all bicycles seems to be elastic, that for the specific brands of bicycles is even less so because other objects such as cars, skateboards and even simple walking serve as distractions and are much further from the concept. 3. The proportion of income spent on the good. Should a high proportion of a given consumer's earnings be spent on a particular good, the demand for that good is most likely elastic. The users are aspirants for travel who can easily accept an increase in price by upto 50% as far as they get to travel but the same increment cannot be same for gum since 2 extra cents is nothing but the 500 extra dollars is plenty to pay. Simply put, consumers react to percentage change of price at higher levels of cost more than they do of fear of the dollar changes. 4. The ability to delay the purchase of the good. Under scheduling pressure, the chance for accommodating modification on the existing need designs when there are price increments is minimized. It follows that when time is more limited, the demand for one item will be more inelastic.
