Open # 2 test cock, purge and close c. Install fittings using Teflon Tape 3. Set Up, Test # 1: a. Remove Air Inlet Valve Cover b. Install Compensating Valve on # 1 test cock c. Connect High Hose to # 2 test cock d. Close High Control Valve e. Close High Bleed Valve f. Open # 2 test cock g. Open High Bleed Valve, purge air, close High Bleed Valve, (Pointer is Pegged) h. Close # 2 Shut Off Valve i. Close # 1 Shut Off Valve 4. Perform Test # 1, Air Inlet Valve: Test Requirement: The Air Inlet Valve must open when the pressure in the body is no less than 1 psi and shall open completely. a. Hold Gauge at the level of the Air Inlet Valve b. Open High Bleed Valve to establish a slow, steady drop of the pointer c. When the pointer on the gauge falls rapidly, record the highest reading on gauge when the pointer speed increased. d. Observe that the Air Inlet opened fully. e. Close # 2 test cock f. Disconnect High Hose to completely drain the body g. Confirm that the Air Inlet has fully opened. PVB Test Procedures – Short Form 5. Set Up, Test # 2: a. Connect High Hose to Compensating Valve on # 1 test cock b. Open # 1 Shut Off Valve c. Open # 1 test cock d. Open High Bleed Valve, purge air, Close High Bleed Valve, (Pointer is Pegged) e. Close # 1 Shut Off Valve 6. Perform Test # 2, Check Valve: Test Requirement: At least 1 psi in a static condition. a. b. c. d. e. f. g. h. i. j. k. l. Hold Gauge at same level as # 2 test cock Open # 2 test cock When the water stops running from the # 2 test cock, read the Gauge Record the reading Close # 2 test cock Open # 1 Shut Off Valve Open # 2 Shut Off Valve Disconnect High Hose Remove Compensating Valve and fittings Open all valves on Gauge Drain Gauge and place Gauge, Hoses and fittings in box File Test and Repair Form Appropriately
