We chose these two topics because they stood out as areas we were both strongly interested in and curious to explore. The first topic/question looks into the privacy risks of facial recognition technology and how organizations manage biometric data, an issue that feels both timely and essential in today’s digital world. The second topic/question dives into the psychological and social reasons behind why users change their privacy settings on social media, a topic that feels relevant as we all interact with these platforms daily. We asked ChatGPT to provide four 3 perspectives to help us consider the issue from multiple angles. This helped us deepen our understanding of both the advantages and risks of this technology. We believed this would help make our argument a bit stronger. We liked the first part but felt we needed to clarify the link between biometrics and personal data more clearly to make the risk stand out. That connection would help our argument flow much better. We feel more confident now in our stance, that while technology has its advantages, protecting privacy should be the top priority. We liked the social angle, but we wanted to dig deeper into how peer behavior really affects privacy decisions. This would really help us explore how the social pressure aspect of it works. It will help us see if education and transparency are important factors in this. It really is eye opening how fragile our personal information is online. This sense of vulnerability pushes people to act and protect their data, which makes total sense when you think about how often we hear about data misuse. 15 We also saw that social influence is powerful. Whether it is friends, family, or influencers, users tend to follow what others are doing. We found this point particularly interesting because it shows how privacy decisions are often shaped by the behavior of those around us. This was an important point for us, as we had not fully considered how much design influences people’s ability to protect themselves online. We were able to dig deeper into each perspective and learn how these factors interact.
