Number Concepts 1. Properties of Odd and Even Numbers  Addition: o Sum of two odd numbers is even. o Sum of two even numbers is even. o Sum of an odd and an even number is odd.  Multiplication: o Product of two odd numbers is odd. o Product of two even numbers is even. o Product of an odd and an even number is even. 2. Factors and Multiples  Factors: Numbers that divide evenly into another number. o To find factors, check divisibility rules or use a calculator. o Example: Factors of 24 are 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 8, 12, 24.  Prime Factorization: Writing a number as a product of prime numbers. o Use factor trees or list prime factors. o Example: Prime factorization of 30 is 2 × 3 × 5.  Greatest Common Factor (GCF): o Largest number that divides evenly into two or more numbers. o Find common factors or use prime factorization. o Example: GCF of 18 and 24 is 6.  Multiples: Numbers obtained by multiplying a number by another whole number. o Example: Multiples of 5 are 5, 10, 15, ...  Least Common Multiple (LCM): o Smallest number that is a multiple of two or more numbers. o Find common multiples or use prime factorization. o Example: LCM of 12 and 18 is 36. 3. Applications and Problem Solving  Use number properties to solve real-world problems: o Dividing players into teams with equal numbers. o Determining packages needed for hot dogs and buns. 4. Practice Problems  Solve problems involving: o Addition and multiplication of odd and even numbers. o Finding factors and prime factorization. o Determining GCF and LCM for practical scenarios. 5. Study Tips  Remembering Properties: Create examples to recall odd/even number properties.  Factor Finding: Start with 1 and check sequentially for factors.  Prime Factorization: Use factor trees for clear visualization.  GCF and LCM: List factors or use prime factorization for efficient calculation. 6.
