Thermodynamics processes (Part 2) we define a process is an operation by which a System Changes from one State to another, Iso Choric: when there is No Change in the volume of the System, It is called iso Choric process. The Combustion of a substance in a bomb Calorimeter is one such Process, Another form of Change is an amount of gas Confined in a closed container ensuring Constant Volume. If this were heated Slowly, The gas cannot expand but the presswe will increase. If the gap is Now allowed to cool, the pressure would drop. Both heating and cooling are done in a reversible Manner, Yet another example would be aliquid and its vapour Confined in a Sealed Eube. Heating will Vapornise Some of the liquid reducing its amount, Now Cooling It will reverse the process, sincr Some of the vapour Will Now Liquify Reversible: A Reversible process is a process that can be reversed in its progress, back towards the starting point, at any time in infinitesimal steps. Example Isothermal expansion of an Ideal gas. In such a process, the driving force is only infinitesimal greater than be opposing force. • Irreversible: An irreversible process is a process which can not be reversed. A process spontaneously going from State A to State B that can not be brought back to State A is defined as an irreversible process Example: a gas expanding into vacuum. • Cyclic & After having under gone a change, if the system returns to the initial state, It is called a cyclic process. A System containing 2 moles of an Ideal gas can be taken from a State 1 atm pressure and 303k to state 0.25 atm at 303 R° (Isothermally) It can be taken back to its original State easily. This is an example of a Cyclic process.
