Celebrition of writhing By Hangama Ahmadi What your writing meant to you this semester? This semester, writing started as just something I had to do for class, but it became more personal over time. When I wrote about my childhood and my hometown, I realized I hadn’t really thought deeply about those memories in a long time. Writing helped me slow down and truly understand those moments and the emotions connected to them. I also learned how to express my thoughts more deep and clearly and gained confidence in sharing my ideas with others. Also I learned how I can express the feeling of being in that moment of your memory which has been my favorite part of writing. At first, writing felt challenging, but through drafts and feedback, I improved a lot. And By the end, writing felt meaningful and useful to me, not just like an assignment. I’m very proud of myself and how much I’ve grown as a writer this semester. Talk about what the cookbook’s publication involved and what it meant to you, too This project surprised me because it made me think about memories I hadn’t paid attention to before. One thing that really helped my writing was the process we followed. First, we wrote our first draft, and then we did peer review. That step helped me go back and see what I needed to change and improve. After that, we submitted a middle draft, where I worked on making my ideas clearer and adding more detail. Then we did proofreading for each other, which helped me catch mistakes and make my writing stronger. By the final draft, my writing was much more clear, detailed, and meaningful. When I chose Sheer Birinj, it reminded me of my family and my hometown, Kabul. It brought back memories of being together and feeling at home. This project showed me that taking time with each step really improves your writing. With whom do you plan to share your writing outside the class? I shared my project with my friend Bryana, and she was really excited about it and even asked for a copy. That made me feel proud and showed me that my writing can matter to other people. To finish my work, I had to manage my time, write multiple drafts, and accept feedback. It wasn’t always easy, but it helped me improve a lot. What it took to get your writing done (drafts, time, feedback) at first that I started I was overwolmed that how I’m but afer understanding my assiment I start witing it was hard I had to think about a recipy that I like and its my fariot it was hard because I don’t have a favriot food the only favavrat that I have is this dessert sheer birinj this assiment was one my assiment that I was excited because it was all about my memories but at the same like I have 3 ore clases that I have homeworks I got to do pluse my job it wasn’t easy but I made it I tried my hard to finich my work on time but it was wort it dafinaltly What have you learned about writing this semester? At the beginning of the semester, my writing was more simple and not very detailed. When we did the language and literacy autobiography since it was the first assignment going back I found so many mistakes. I didn’t went to deep into my ideas or express my feeling but by the end of this assignment I have learned a lot like Now, I write with more detail and more personal meaning. I feel more confident in my writing. and I can see much I improved I learned that Generative AI can be helpful, but my own voice is what makes my writing strong. AI uses any sources that we can’t trust. What are you most proud of doing this term I am most proud of the cookbook chapter Sheer Birinj story because it really shows my memories and my growth. I have some quotes here ”Even today, whenever I make it or even smell cardamom cooking in milk, I immediately think about my beautiful Kabul, where I was born, and my siblings. It is amazing how one simple dish can hold so many emotions and memories inside it.” Even though there were many versions, my favorite was always my mom’s recipe. To me, hers tasted the best because it felt like her care in every bite. I’m very proud of myself and how much I’ve grown as a writer this semester. •How has your understanding of voice in writing developed? What i learn from voice on writhing is that its a important and a beautiful way to express your felling and thoughts in writhing that your reader would know its you. How have you grown in the EIGHT habits of mind from the Framework for Success in Postsecondary Writing • Curiosity – the desire to know more about the world. • Openness – in this assiment I learnd how to be more open accepthing others Ideas and accept their feedback • Engagement the pair reviws showed me how yoy can get ingaged in other idead by suggesting comenthingand proofhading • Creativity in the cook book assiment I lernd a lot of creativity by puthing my story my memoryes even the sence of being that moment to others that I never wrote before. • Persistence- I learn that writhing takes time and pation as much as your work on in it keeps getting better just like lerning a new skill. • Responsibility – I learn that keeping up with your assiment coming in class evryday take a lot of affert and its not that easy but by staying commenment to it now I learn that it take affert but you get displine more skiled on being on time and • Flexibility – i learn to take my time wisly for me it wasn’t easy with having 4 class and a full time job at the same time eathing helthy subment all my assiment on time sor some like me how id displin sleep is importint eading time so want easy . • Metacognition I learn that while I write im keep getting good not just fixing mestakes. also when I took my time going back and rewrite or even peer rewiou prpfhading thrououth thes proeses it was very usfull to me
