I think the American Revolution was not the right choice. In the beginning, the colonists tried to solve their
problems with Britain in peaceful ways. They could have continued using trade and communication instead
of starting a war. The Revolution brought death, fear, and separation between people who once lived together
peacefully.
In Source A, the colonists showed that they could protest without fighting. They stopped buying British tea
and other products to stand up against unfair taxes. This hurt Britain’s business but did not hurt anyone. It
proved that the colonists wanted fairness and respect, not war. Their peaceful protest was already working.
In Source B, things became violent when a fight broke out between colonists and British soldiers in Boston.
People were injured and killed. What began as a peaceful protest turned into anger and fear. When people
stopped talking and started fighting, everything became worse.
In Source E, many Loyalists wanted to stay with Britain because they believed it provided safety and order.
They were afraid that war would bring chaos and destroy their homes. The fighting forced people to pick
sides, and it divided families and friends.
At first, peace gave the colonists a voice, but war only brought pain. These sources show that discussion and
patience could have made better chance than violence. That’s why I believe the American Revolution was
not the right choice.
