Because the liver is unable to properly remove toxins, the disease known as jaundice causes the eyes and skin to become yellow. - Liver and kidney failure. - Pancreatitis. 2. Describe the actions and adverse reactions of N-acetylcysteine (NAC) Actions: A vasodilator, this medication. Nitric oxide generation and function are made easier by it. In other words, it replaces the disulfide bonds in mucus with sulfhydryl radicals. Adverse Reactions: gastrointestinal reflux as well as nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and flatulence. Drug-induced pneumonitis, bacterial pneumonia, a cough, and sore throat can all result from inhaling NAC. 3. Describe the steps needed to implement suicide precautions. - Learn and educate those around you about the warning signs. - Promote prevention and resilience as well as reduce factors that increase risk. - Observe for and identify potentially harmful behaviors with each patient assessment - Initiate Suicide Precautions when it is determined the patient is at risk. - Identify a plan of care: - Address care needs i.e. alteration in coping & anxiety, Mental Status, Psychosocial/Spiritual, and/or Death Anxiety. - Search the patient, patient belongings, and the patient's room for contraband, potentially dangerous items, and weapons. - If the patient is suicidal or involuntarily committed, assign a sitter to remain in constant attendance with the patient at all times.
