3.1.4 Evidence Evaluation
Because the only goods with different lot numbers across the hospital are the antiseptic wipes in the E,
ORA, ORB, and oncology, which have the lot number 666789, we may assume that the infection spread
via antiseptic wipes. Because 11 of the afflicted patients were in rooms that had these lot numbers, we
may assume that the antiseptic wipes were the source of bacterial diseases in the hospitals. The
hospital's infection rate would be much greater if all rooms used the same wipes. We recommend that
the hospital continue to use the same antiseptic wipes and that they be renewed on a regular basis to
avoid bacterial infections from spreading any further. Antiseptic wipes have the goal of killing bacteria. In
addition, the hospital had to dispose of 666789 antiseptic wipes.
