They stopped all trade with Britain and created their own militias. 3. By creating their own militias, what did it seem like they were preparing for? They were preparing for war with the British. 4. Patrick Henry worked for a group that helped govern the colonies. What was that group called? The House of Burgesses 5. Why did the king close the House of Burgesses? He was angry that some of the colonists were speaking out against the Stamp Act. 6. He felt this way because he was tired of being taxed and tired of the British treating the colonists like they had less rights than British citizens. They wanted to make their own laws and have their own government.
