World War l was supposed to be The War that Ends All War= but after those events, everyone placed the blame on Germany, which lead them to create the Treaty of Versailles to make sure there will be peace. The Treaty of Versailles was created with the intention of making World War l would be the last major war. The treaty included harsh conditions that Germans were unable to meet. By taking away their territorial lands, enforcing military restrictions, and making them pay for the destruction of World War l. These conditions angered and humiliated Germany leading them to World War ll. The treaty of Versailles contributed to world war l by severely weakening German through territorial losses. Germany was forced to lose some of its lands, such as Alsace and Lorraine, resulting in a 40% reduction in German coal production. Punishing Germany is understandable, but the treaty of Versailles was too harsh. Especially difficult since the region lost its most valuable resources. Germans now living in other countries hate those countries and stay loyal to Germany. The restriction on Germany’s military was another main factor between the Treaty of Versailles and the start of World War l. Between the Treaty of Versailles and the outbreak of World war l, Germany's military was extremely restricted to be small. In the treaty, it stated that Germany was limited to no more than 100,00 troops and no reserves. The German people felt very insecure since its military was so restricted and small compared to its neighbors. As World War ll began, it made them more likely to get attacked by Germany's neighbors. There was a high economic payment forced upon Germany which is the third factor tying the Versailles Treaty to World War ll. Germany was required to pay the price to Allied nations. The commission established a payment schedule for Germany to follow. Germany paid $367 US dollars and $341 dollars in 1929, but it was too much for Germany to keep up will. The reparation was so high that Germany was not stable enough to complete the payments once Hilter came into power it led them to stop paying altogether. The treaty of verssailes had a huge impact on starting World War ll. At the time it may have seen like they were creating peace after a horrible war. Instead, the punishment was just as extremely harsh on Germany. German had given up the lands causing them to have a coal reduction. It also gave them a restriction on the number of troops they can have. The Germans were very worried about this because they felt as if they are not safe from their neighboring countries. After World War l has ended Germany was held accountable to pay for the damage but the problem was the amount was too high to pay. The Treaty of Versailles tried to have peace but instead, it caused another major war.
