Historical Analysis of Wall of Berlin
The Communist government of German Democratic Republic in 1961 began to establish
a concrete wall between the East and West Berlin. The main purpose of developing the Berlin
Wall was to keep the Western extremists from interfering in East Germany and deflating the
policies of the socialist state. The barriers that were created with this wall included a guard tower
that was placed along the huge concrete Berlin wall along with a death strip that included
trenches that were anti-vehicle and many other defenses [ CITATION His09 \l 1033 ]. Whereas,
the Eastern Germany area pretent that this wall protected their people from the extremist and
radical element of the Western Germany who was actually preventing East Germany to develop a
socialist state as per the will of the people. In reality, the Berlin Wall helped in preventing the
practice of mass emigration that occurred in Communist Eastern Bloc and East Germany during
World War II. Until today, the Berlin Wall is one of the strongest and most powerful symbols
remaining of the Cold War that played an integral role in the globalization and modern global
economy.
Why did the Fall of Berlin Wall occur?
When the effects of Cold War began to melt across the Eastern Europe region in 1989,
the representatives of the East Berlin Communist Party announced that their relationship with the
Western region was changing drastically. On 9th November, the Eastern bloc announced that the
citizens had the freedom to move across freely across the borders of both the countries. This is
what the East and West Berliners wanted and they rushed in happiness towards the wall, drank
champagne and happily chanted to open the gates [ CITATION Hop14 \l 1033 ]. They were so
excited that the same night they flooded through the various gates and checkpoints across the FALL OF BERLIN WALL

border. A celebration was planned and more than 2 million people from the Eastern Berlin region
traveled to the Western Berlin region over the weekend to celebrate [ CITATION Hop14 \l
1033 ]. This is known to be the greatest party ever planned and celebrated in the history of the
world. It was clear that people from both the East and West wanted the fall of the Berlin wall.
They used picks and hammers so that the wall could be destroyed and this is known as the wall
woodpeckers. Meanwhile, the government from both the side announced the use of bulldozers
and cranes in order to destroy sections after sections of the Berlin. In no time, the Berlin wall
was destroyed and the Berlin reunited for the first time after 1945. This marks the fall of the
Berlin Wall and the end of the war.
Fall of Berlin Wall and Globalization
The fall of the Berlin wall resulted in globalization and modern economic progress. With
the fall of the Berlin fall, the structure of the Soviet power collapsed. There were many
economies across Former Soviet Union, Eastern Europe and Central Asia that were closed
economic system, they began to come to life with interaction with other economies. The citizens
of almost 30 countries began to adopt the free market economic systems and focused on rapid
progress [ CITATION Lia14 \l 1033 ]. The private properties were illegal and the government
was centrally-planned. With the fall of Berlin Wall in 1989, the oppressive economies began to
fade away and paved way for privatisation which revolutionized land, machinery, and sector of
real estate. The laws and constitutions were revamped and the companies began to evolve. This
resulted in globalization and expansion into other countries. The states that remained focused
upon communism like China began to globalize and people were able to travel, do business and
get decent jobs.
