Impedance As direct current tends to follow the path of least resistance, Alternating current tends to follow the path of least impedance. The impedance of an L-R-C series circuit, Z = sqrt( R² + (ωL - 1/(ωC))² ) (R = Resistance, ω = angular frequency, L = Inductance, C = Capacitance) The impedance of an a.c. circuit is also defined as the ratio of the voltage amplitude across the circuit to the current amplitude in the circuit. Z = sqrt( R² + (XL - XC)² ) = V / I (V = voltage amplitude, I = current amplitude) Vrms = V₀ / sqrt(2) Irms = I₀ / sqrt(2) V = iR (Ohm's Law) P = VE (Power formula, where P = Power, V = Voltage, E or V = Current) $L = 50 \text{mH}$$X_{L} = \omega L$Inductive reactance Energy is stored in the inductor temporarily, it is stored in the magnetic field and then released as the current increases and decreases. The inductor does not consume energy, there is no loss in energy. $F = 60 \text{Hz}$This is the number of times the signal is changed per second.
