From the early days of the crusades, and creation of the Ottoman Empire, to the modern-day Isreal-Palestinian conflicts, and the civil wars in Lebanon, Syria, and Pakistan. Some people may argue that religion can cause the division of people. It has indeed caused separation, but it is also true that it has helped unite races and societies around the globe for hundreds of ages. It enables people to speak through its universal language and partake in a similar culture. Over the years, society has changed enormously. But, the one aspect of life that has stayed constant has been religion. Throughout time religion has given people a moral code, that is now the basis of laws in modern-day society. For some people, spirituality is the only reason why they never commit various crimes such as murder or thievery. It is because they are afraid of the possibility of punishments for all the misconduct that they have made during their lives. Most religions teach its followers to choose right over wrong, good over evil, just over unjust, truth over lies, so that there is harmony in the world.
Without a doubt, it has played a massive role in our lives and the events leading up to today’s society. The importance of faith on a person, societal, and global level varies greatly. Many people seek guidance to help them navigate the roadblocks in life. Others may look for a purpose in life to give it a greater meaning. And for societies and cultures, it can act as a glue, binding people together with common beliefs, practices, and rituals. These are the reasons why religion is important.
