Several organizations prioritized banning the sale of alcohol because they believed that this was the primary cause of issues for the working poor. For whatever reason, muckraking journalists would often raise issues with progressive projects at the outset and draw the public's attention to them. Throughout the late 19th and early 20th centuries, a variety of social, political, and economic problems beset American society were the focus of the Progressive Movement, a multidimensional endeavor.
