Protein Based on Function Protein as an enzyme is a protein that can function as a catalyst19. Enzyme can catalyst all chemical reacion that occur at the cellular level. Some examples of enzymes that are widely used today include glucose oxidase which catalyzes glucose into gluconic acid, uricase which is an enzyme that can break down glucose. Uric acid becomes allantoin. More than 2000 types of enzymes have been discovered that catalyze specific chemical reactions and are found in various forms of life. Transport proteins can bind and carry specific molecules or ions from one organ to another. An example of an easy transport protein is myoglobin which stores and distributes oxygen into muscles. Hemoglobin is a protein that carries oxygen through the bloodstream from the heart to the tissues that need it to produce energy20. Hemoglobin can bind oxygen when blood passes through the lungs. Oxygen is carried and released in peripheral tissues where it can be used to oxidize nutrients (food) into energy. In blood plasma there are lipoproteins which function to transport lipids from the liver to the organs. Other transport proteins also found in cell membranes play a role in carrying several molecules such as glucose, amino acids and other nutrients through the membrane to the cell. Protein Nutrient is often called storage protein, this protein is a food reserve needed for growth and development21. We often find several examples of this protein in everyday life, such as ovalbumin which is the main protein in egg whites, casein which is the main protein in milk. Contractile proteins are also known as motile proteins, in organism cells these proteins play a role in moving like actin and myosin. These two proteins are filaments that function to move in the contractile system and skeletal muscles. Another example is tubulin Microtubule forming is the main substance that makes up flagella and cilia that move cells. Structural proteins, this type of protein plays a role in supporting or building the biological structure of living things22. For example, collagen is the main protein in tendons and cartilage which has strength and elasticity. Joints contain elastin protein which can stretch in two directions.
