Making a Periodic Table suitable for Framing ($200) Assignment Overview: To make a Periodic Table of Elements that displays element name and symbol, atomic number, atomic weight, electronegativity, electron configuration and electron dot structure. Procedures: 1. On the photocopy of Periodic Table of Elements, shade the s, p, d, and f regions with different color markers. 2. Obtain two large sheets of drawing paper and carefully scotch tape the two pieces end-to-end so that the longest possible side is created. 3. Using a pencil, lightly mark off a 6 centimeter (cm) border along the left and bottom edges. 4. Starting from the bottom edge border and working towards the top of the paper, mark off seven 4 cm high sections on both the left border mark and the right side of the paper. 5. Draw light construction lines from left to right to connect the 4 cm marks so that seven distinct rows are created. 6. Starting from the left border, make light construction marks every 3.5 cm along the bottom and top construction lines. 7. Draw light construction lines from top to bottom so that 32 distinct columns are created. 8. Match the elements from the shaded Periodic Table (Step 1) with the appropriate boxes on the large outline (At some point you will glue a small cutout box in a large sketched box, however you want to be certain that the cutouts are in the correct boxes). 9. Creativity complete the construction of your personalized Periodic Table of the Elements. 10. In addition to the cut out Element boxes, you must include in each large box the following information: - element name - electronegativity - electron configuration and - electron dot notation.
