•
Non-academic: ability outside the scientific field (subject matter)
Answer
1. When viewed broadly, many educational problems in Indonesia are included in new
problems or problems that are completed. One of the problems in the education system in
Indonesia that continues to occur and has not been resolved until now is the equitable
distribution of education both from the quality of human resources and non-human
resources such as infrastructure and facilities. Most schools that have good quality are
located in urban areas. These schools have strong building infrastructure, complete
classrooms, laboratory rooms filled with complete equipment as well.
This situation is inversely proportional to the condition of education in the
peripheral areas, especially the eastern islands, which are rarely considered by the
government. The schools there mostly have low infrastructure such as buildings that only
have plywood walls that are not suitable for use as building materials. Most classrooms are
inadequate to accommodate students as well as inadequate laboratory space and
infrastructure. In fact, based on the amount of the budget spent on education, which is 20%
of the total APBN or around Rp. 419 trillion, it should be able to make significant changes
to improve the quality of education. In addition to education quality problems, there are many more problems that exist
in the education system such as bullying cases that continue to increase every year. Based
on Kompasiana's news, it was written that based on the Executive Overview of the National
Strategy for the Elimination of Violence Against Children 2016-2020 by the Ministry of
PPPA, 84% of students experienced violence at school and 50% of children had
experienced bullying at school. This means that there is something problematic about the
resolution of teachers or school officials to these bullying cases.
2. The problems that exist in the education system described above certainly have a
background cause behind them. Inequality in the quality of education is one example and
the disparity that occurs between urban areas and peripheral areas can occur due to planning
and managerial errors of education officials. As mentioned in the source above, with a
budget of 20% of the state budget or approximately Rp. 419 trillion, this inequality should
be overcome slowly if the planning of education programs or steps taken by leaders is
appropriate.
Entering into further problems such as cases of bullying or bullying that occur at
school and even take victims, of course the problem here is the lack of seriousness of school
officials, both principals, teachers, homeroom teachers or counseling teachers in dealing
with bullying or bullying problems at school.
3. The Director General of Education and Culture has underlined six basic components that
are interrelated in improving the quality of learning, namely: (1) development of learners'
professionalism; (2) development of environmental management, infrastructure and
educational facilities; (3) development of school management; (4) development of
supervision or monitoring and evaluation; (5) development of learning evaluation tools;
(6) development of school and community relations. Based on these six points, educators
can improve their ability to provide the best educational services to children in the future. 4. There are various efforts that can be made to produce competent graduates, which of course
require efforts from various parties involved in education, including universities, lecturers,
and guardians / parents of students in supporting the spirit of learning. One of the efforts
that can be made is to improve the quality of the learning process through facilities and
infrastructure, the provision of an exchange corner or job market through cooperation with
companies in Jakarta, and the holding of international lectures in collaboration and
affiliation with other institutions abroad. In essence, to produce competent graduates, we
must first improve the internal education system.
