Individual Assignment: 1 Material: Basic Concept of Civic Education 1. Analysis of the differences between civic education and citizenship education The answer: based on the definition given by Cogan (1994:4) it can be concluded that civic education is a school subject that is designed more to prepare citizens so that they can actively participate in society in the future. While citizenship education is citizenship education that includes learning in formal educational institutions that function to facilitate the process of maturity or maturation as citizens. 2. Explain the competencies that students are expected to master from the Civics course! The answer: what students are expected to master from the Civics course is an increase in the sense of defending and loving the homeland, becoming good citizens who are not consumptive and have a competitive spirit in advancing the nation and state and actively participating. 3. State the vision and mission of Civics in higher education and have adjusted it to current developments! The answer: • Vision: is a source of values and guidelines in the development and implementation of study programs in order to lead students to establish their personalities as complete Indonesian people. • Mission: to help students strengthen their personality so that they are consistently able to realize the basic values of Pancasila, a sense of pride, and love for the country. And based on my personal opinion, the vision and mission above are in accordance with the development of the times, but it is better to implement it with improvements in each student. 4. Explain the relationship between national defense efforts and Pkn! The answer: because although there is no explicit relationship in the law, logically the relationship between the two is very close. In this subject, citizens are taught how and what national defense is and what good national defense is that can be implemented by citizens in their daily lives and is beneficial to society at large. 5. Explain the conceptual crisis that occurred in the Pkn curriculum in Indonesia! The answer: This conceptualization crisis of PKN occurred in Indonesia until 1975 which was seen in the use of the terms civics education, citizenship education and IPS (Social Sciences) education simultaneously. Civics or PKn or PMP or PPKn which developed fluctuatively from 1962 – 1998 showed indicators that there was instability in the framework of thinking which reflected the occurrence of a conceptual crisis.
