SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS (SDGs) PRESENTATION LEARNING Introduction • Sustainable development is historically a development concept that was formalized in 1987. • Sustainable development is aimed at minimizing and degrading the environment on the one hand, and economic development on the other. • To REMEMBER: in general, sustainable development is development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the capacity of future generations. • The planning and implementation of sustainable development certainly has a variety of goals known as Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Sustainable Development Theory (1) • Before further discussing the aspects of the SDGs, it is worth recalling that sustainable development emphasizes the concept of the relationship between economic growth and the environment. • Sustainable development analysis differs from standard growth and development economics by including natural resources as a form of natural capital, defined as the value of existing stocks of natural resources such as forests, fisheries, water, mineral deposits, and the environment in general. • Natural capital provides goods and services to humans, as do financial capital, manufacturing capital, and human capital, the latter created by investments in education and health. • Depletion of natural capital can be compensated, in part, by investment in capital manufacturing and people. Sustainable Development Theory (2) • Conceptually, sustainable development can be measured by determining a country's Gross National Product (GNP) and subtracting it from Depreciation of Manufactured Capital (Dm) and Depreciation of Natural Capital (Dn) to find the Sustainable Net National Product (SNNP): • Notes: C = Consumption; S = Saving; Dm = Depreciation of manufactured capital; Dn = depreciation of natural capital • The concept results in the basic sustainability criterion that: Net Saving (NS) equals Total Saving (S) minus Depreciation of Manufacturing Capital (Dm) minus Depreciation of Natural Capital (Dn), which must be positive: Sustainable Development Theory (3) • Furthermore, if Human Capital Depreciation (Dh), either in the form of brain drain or in the form of declining quality of education and health is included, the Sustainable Net National Product (SNNP*) can be adjusted as follows: • Or • The basic sustainability criteria can now be restated as Net savingsNS* must be greater than zero after depreciation of manufactured, natural and human capital is taken into account, or: Sustainable Development Theory (4) • The theory discussed earlier implies that an economy becomes unsustainable if it fails to reverse the depreciation of three forms of capital: manufactured, natural, and human. • or, in other words, if natural resources are degraded and the quality of education and health deteriorates, the effect will be the same if there is capital flight-including human capital flight, or brain drain-in a particular country. • Natural and other forms of capital, such as manufacturing and human capital, are both complements and substitutes. Increasing manufacturing capital or human capital can increase natural capital such as land. • These concepts and theories are then developed into various objectives. sustainable development (sustianbale development goals) History of SDGs • The global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) declared on September 25, 2015 during the UN Sustainable Summit 2015 adopted the document "Transforming Our Word: 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development" as the 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda document. • Initially, before the implementation of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) ended, the UN Summit on MDGs 2010 formulated the post-2015 world development agenda. • This is reinforced by the agreement of the document "The Future We Want" in the UN Conference on Sustainable Development 2012. • Both of these are the main drivers of the post-2015 development agenda agreed at the UN General Assembly in September 2015, the 2030 Agenda of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). • The SDGs/SDGs aim to maintain the improvement of people's economic welfare in a sustainable manner, maintain the sustainability of people's social life, maintain the quality of the environment and inclusive development and the implementation of governance that is able to maintain the improvement of the quality of life from one generation to the next. The Concept of Sustainable Development • The 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda document contains the goals and targets of the SDGs/SDGs, which consist of 17 goals and 169 targets that illustrate the goals and scope of an inclusive and multidimensional global development agenda. • These goals and targets guide the global community over the next 15 years in implementing development for the welfare of the world community. SDGs (1) The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) consist of: • SDGs 1.No Poverty End all forms of poverty. poverty everywhere. • Zero Hunger Eliminate hunger, achieve food security and good nutrition, and promote sustainable agriculture. • SDG 3.Good Health and Well-being Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all people of all ages. • Quality Education Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and enhance lifelong learning opportunities for all... SDGs (2) • SDG 5.Gender Equality Achieve gender equality and empower women. • Clean Water and Sanitation Ensure the availability and sustainable management of clean water and sanitation for all. • Affordable and Clean Energy Ensure access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all. • Decent Work and Economic Growth Promote inclusive and comprehensive economic growth and decent work for all. SDGs (3) • Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure Build resilient infrastructure, promote inclusive and sustainable industries, and foster innovation. • SDGs 10.Reduced Inequality (Reduced Inequality) Reduce intra- and inter-country disparities. • Sustainable Cities and Communities Make cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable. • SDGs 12.Responsible consumption and production (Responsible Consumption & Production)Ensure a pattern of sustainable production and consumption. • SDGs 13. Climate Action Taking rapid action to address climate change and its impacts. SDGs (4) • Conserve and sustainably utilize marine and oceanic resources for sustainable development. • Life on Land Protect, restore and enhance the sustainable use of terrestrial ecosystems, sustainably manage forests, halt desertification, reverse land degradation and halt biodiversity loss. • Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions Strengthen inclusive and peaceful societies for sustainable development, provide access to justice for all, and build effective, accountable and inclusive institutions. • Partnerships to achieve the Goals Strengthen the means of implementation and revitalize global partnerships for sustainable development. Pillars of Sustainable Development The four main pillars of sustainable development: 1. Social Pillar, to achieve the fulfillment of quality basic human rights in a fair and equal manner to improve welfare for the entire community; 2. Environmental Pillar, for sustainable management of natural resources and the environment as the support of all life; 3. Economic Pillar, to achieve quality economic growth through sustainable employment and business opportunities, innovation, inclusive industry, adequate infrastructure, affordable clean energy and supported by partnerships; and 4. Pillar of Law and Governance, to realize legal certainty and effective, transparent, accountable and participatory governance to create security stability and achieve a state based on law. Thank You!
