Baptist and Methodist are both denominations of Protestantism. They share some similar beliefs such as the Bible is the sacred word of God, and that salvation is granted through their faith in God and Christ. Both religions practice rituals such as the Holy Communion and baptism. Baptist believes in performing a baptism by immersion only to those who are free, knowledgeable, and capable of understanding the true meaning of faith and the rite. On the other hand, Methodists will perform a baptism on infants, youth, and adults through pouring, sprinkling, or immersion. Baptists view Jesus Christ as their lord and savior while Methodists view God in three persons: the Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit. Baptists are passionate supporters of religious liberty they are independent and maintain that religion and civil government must be kept apart. Methodists pray and study the Bible together. They watch over and encourage each other to live their best Christian life. Communion for Methodist are open yet Baptist communion is only open to baptized church members. As for the organization of the church Baptists are self-governing their Pastors are appointed by their church, however, for Methodists, their congregations are linked to one another, and their Pastors are appointed by Bishops. Methodists are generally liberal and follow the minimal fundamental aspects of Protestantism, while Baptists are the opposite and stricter fundamentalist in their religious outlook. Both religions share many similarities, but their major difference lies in their performance of baptisms.
